Highly effective and nontoxic mosquito control
I found this system is highly effective. I used 8 units for 1/2 acre with amazing reduction of mosquitos. Previously we were unable to sit outside without heavy mosquito repellant. Within 1 week after installing these traps, we were able to enjoy being outside without any insect repellant and without seeing any mosquitos! Common sense tells that these should be set on the ground (not hung from the top) and should be carries with one hand underneath the bottom. Once you figure out how to easily install the glue strip, it remains a little tricky to place the top correctly and to twist clockwise to lock the top in place. I found that a small amount of sweet baled hay is the best attractant with these traps. I replaced the glue strips once a season, using the replacement strips offered by Catchmaster.

No Seeming Benefit
I used four of these across our yard, and they appeared to have no impact on the number of mosquitoes in our yard.

Undecided after 1 season in
1 season in. I didn’t notice any difference in my backyard population. I do have a large yard at 7/10 of an acre. I had 8 set out. This year I am adding 8 more. 3 stars because I think the concept is good; the design has some things I didn’t like and I’m still not decided on the effectiveness. Thoughts from my experience so far: They don’t hang well. The roof just presses on and the weight of the water made my hanging ones separate from the roof and fall. I set them on the ground, now. Regular inspections of the glue boards did not show many mosquitos, but did trap many other harmless and beneficial bugs. The glue boards are a mess to deal with so this year I will not use them. As an added measure I will be adding bits of Bti mosquito dunks to the water. Will update at the end of season two or sooner if results are positive.

Truly a Catchmaster
I’ve used this product next to my Patriot Mosquito Magnets (which are expensive to buy, operate and maintain). The catch rate of these inexpensive Catchmaster traps dwarfs my Mosquito Magnet catch rate. The number of mosquitos on my property is noticeably less. My Mosquito Magnets are headed to the dump.Unlike some other reviewers, I used my traps per the directions. Yes the glue boards can be messy, but if you use disposable gloves and not fret over a perfect fit inside the trap, installation becomes easy and mess-free. I can’t recommend this effective product more.

Don’t bother
Unfortunately I read the reviews of this product after I purchased them.I only bought them based on a recommendation from Consumer Reports Magazine.I agree with many of you. They simply don’t work. I can’t prove that they create more mosquitoes but I had 4 traps out for 2 months and it hasn’t rained where I live since July 30th. That’s 7 weeks. My mosquito problem seems to have increased a lot. How when there’s been no rain and no standing water anywhere except within these traps.I had only one trap with dead mosquitoes in the strip paper and there were about a total of 4 dead mosquitoes.I had to fight off mosquitoes to open the traps to see my results.I wish I could get a refund. Not sure that’s even possible.Don’t bother with these. Find another solution

Very Disappointed.
On a recommendation from a major consumer products publication, I bought four of these. Very cheaply constructed product and WAY overpriced for what you get. Plus, I've killed more by swatting them on my skin than all four have killed in weeks. What I don't like about the construction: 1.) The top has an optional hanging/carry handle (it's just a long black twisty). Problem is, the top is not screwed or plastic welded to anything below it. There are 4 plastic studs that the top hat is pushed onto. The weight of the bottom (especially when filled with water) simply pulls the top off and the bottom falls to the ground while splashing water on your leg. 2.) The bottom water container is very difficult to connect to the upper receiving part. The bottom has recessed grooves while the top has very shallow tabs. You are supposed to twist the two together (about a 1/4 inch) but even with large hands there is no good hand hold and sometimes when you think you've got it, you try to pick it up and the bottom falls out and you get splashed with water again. 3.) The mosquitos are supposed to get stuck on the disposable sticky tape in the upper section. Trouble is the adhesive apparently doesn't work well when wet. How does it get wet? Probably one of two ways (or both). Since it sits directly above the water bath there is probably evaporation rising upwards. Secondly, since (as already mentioned) the top and bottom halves are hard to connect, the sticky tape falls into the water bath while trying to connect them together. There is a screen between the two halves but it still happens sometimes. It would be better if there was something holding the sticky tape in place because gravity is working against you - you can't flip it over and twist (remember the water!).Additionally, if you still think you want these, check the price of replacement sticky tape inserts before you order.
