can the cable be put through a small duct or would a catenary be the way to go for gate entrances for continuity of flow

On the livery farm we would attach a hooked plastic handle to the cable at the gateway and hook it back onto the cable at the other side. The plastic handle has a metal conductor running through the middle

38mm / 1.5 inch, but I didn't need to screw them all the way in, they are quite firm at half the length.
