Herpotherm Cold Sore Treatment Device - Reusable and Clinically Proven

I've reviewed a few things for amazon over the years but this is the first time I've been moved to review something less than three hours after receiving it. If you're a cold sore sufferer you don't need telling about how miserable they are. I already had a full blown sore when I ordered this, a big, nasty one that was disfiguring my mouth and had made the glands in my neck swell too. I used this as soon as it arrived and it really is quite astonishing. The sore is drying up and shrinking after one use, it's at least half the size and that horrible gooey blister I woke up with is now a drying, small scab. This rate of healing I normally expect to take at least three days, even with a cream. I can't believe how well it works, worth every penny. To use, it is mildly uncomfortable for a few seconds, but who cares if it heals these awful things up so quickly? It isn't painful, just a brief sensation of heat on the skin. I haven't tried it on a tingle stage sore of course, but if it heals up a big nasty thing like the one I had in a few hours, I think it will be very effective in preventing breakouts. I woke up feeling like Elephant Man this morning, to be honest. After just one zap, I can smile, clean my teeth properly and drink tea without trying to use just one side of my mouth, which I wasn't expecting to be able to do until at least the weekend.

I have suffered lots with coldsores over the years and I have finally found a decent routine that helps. It does not completely eradicate the cold sore as I think that is something that is not possible as yet, but the followng will help other cold sore suffers.Firstly I take 1000MG of Lysine everyday, this has some scientific studies that are proven to reduce the rate of coldsores and the frequency (and in some cases severity).Whenever I have a tingle I immediately use HERPOthermTo use HERPOtherm, just turn the device on (there’s a red light to indicate when it’s turned on). Press the ceramic contact surface gently to your skin, and wait. The plate will warm up to around 51 degrees, for 3 seconds. The device will then turn off automatically. After turning the device on, a red light appears, and the ceramic contact surface will heat up to 51 degrees for three seconds, before automatically turning off. You can repeat this process up to five times in one hour, for maximum effect. REMEMBER KEEP DOING THIS EVEN IF YOU THINK THE COLD SORE HAS BEEN BEATEN - I once stopped and it started to develop againThere haven’t been any large scale studies to prove whether this type of device is effective, but a small study conducted on 100 patients in 2013 found that heat therapy was just as effective as coldsore creams, and could also reduce healing time for coldsores by as much as 50%. (Wohlrab J, et al., Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology 2013, 6:263-271).As well as this my final routine is to use a home remedy of essential oils (Tea Tree, Peppermint, Thyme, Lemon Balm and Chamomile in a carrier oil) I apply this a couple of times a day.This routine as reduced outbreaks significantly (so long as I get plenty of rest) and when I do get a breakout they only last about 4 days before it's gone. The key method for me is the HERPOtherm, it seems to break down the cold sore and stops it developing and the essential oils help relieve sore and any swelling I may have.

Like most sufferers, when i am run down usually, it happens, the mild tingle and the un welcomed cold sore period.I have tried most stuff and too be honest, I am impressed with this.I use the Boots electronic device, which does reduce the length of time the cold sore hangs around and is something you can apply while sat around or on the move along with creams.This particular stick does have a mild burning sensation that lasts for a couple of seconds but has so far been effective at keeping the cold sore away.I have used it on two occassions when I felt the need, maybe I mis interpreted the sysmptoms but fairly certain the tingle was the real thing and applied this stick as directed.No cold sore and no scaring.The boots device is good as I said butt doesn't prevent the cold sore but would still recommend it, more than creams and less expensive in the long term. One thing I will be doing is sourcing a spare battery for the Herpotherm device.Best advice is - Try it and feed back your findings to the company producing it if possible so they can make improvements.
