This book (1.0 & 2.0)is so different to any other ‘drum’ book. You get a real understanding about playing not just drums but music. Equally, you get the freedom to add your own versions. AND by the way, you don’t ever actually complete them. You can go back any time. Also great reference manual for world styles if you need a quick answer.

I loved it - perfect book for the beginner who likes a bit of creativity and flexibility too. The book teaches you how to do the basics but also offers really good variations, essentially 3 variations for each song, and there's 47 songs here with a wide range of difficulty so I'd say grade 1-4 would find it useful. The book came in perfect condition too, definitely good value for money. Thanks!

One of the BEST books out there! It's RAMMED with LOTS to do. Very well written content (often light-hearted and humourous too which makes for easy reading) and excellent transcribed grooves and scores.If you've not got it you're missing out.I wouldn't recommend it for beginners but if you've been playing a while and got your playing fairly together or you can read and want to expand your ideas and knowledge OR you've a teacher who can guide you through - GET IT!Get the DVD that goes with it - Tommy is just... awesome!

Recommended by my drum tutor and it's a great learning tool, Tommy Igoe has an actual band out together and working through the various grooves slow and fast is a great way to work in hi hat technique and limb independence, also give you experience in 'feeling' the groove I played groove 4 slow and it really helped with my open hi hat control

Learning drums and the only book I have.It gives you some structure when teaching yourself and good quality backing tracks. Recommend.

I love this book and turn to it for my own playing as well as teaching. The play alongs are a great standard and having 3 versions for each groove means they don't quickly get boring. Plus once you have mastered the grooves you can always start mixing them up. I personally love putting world grooves like the Mozambique into funk settings. The charts also start simple enough and add different symbols one at a time rather than all at the start which I find students really respond well to.

It’s been my beginner bible so far and has been a superb introduction to the drums. There’s a digital download for the play along tracks. I would recommend getting the DVD (also available digitally but separately) as it makes it much easier to follow.

Great book / cd, a good collection of grooves presented on paper and with backing tracks....there is a problem however....This Book and CD is not the complete kit as was intended to be........to keep the price down it is being sold without the essential DVD that is referred to.Without this DVD you are on your own,no tuition.... there is no demo of the grooves...... so either buy the more expensive offering that specifically stated it has the DVD, or (like I did) download a copy from Hudson the publishers for 19$Even havingto buy the download it was still good value, but like everything else buying cheap, not very clever !

This book with give you plenty to work on and has music to play along. Good book.

I'm a beginner and have been enjoying playing along with the tracks. I've since bought the package with books 1.0 and 2.0 and the accompanying DVDs as it is such a good value. I'll sell my new, duplicate copy when the kit arrives.
