I've done a lot of the ROKR wood puzzles, but this was my favorite of theirs so far. The pieces are plastic so don't break easily, just have a good pair of needle nose nippers to cut them off the sheets. There's not a lot of steps/ pieces but some are challenging due to how tiny the pieces are so it takes patience for some steps, especially the wing assembly. Mine lit up but the motor didn't turn during the first test step, but there's a YT video to help you troubleshoot. I then got the motor working but the gears wouldn't turn properly so had to do some easy disassembly and reset and greased some pieces and I was elated when I reassembled it and the wings flapped. They provide a screwdriver which is magnetic which is VERY helpful as the screws are really tiny (5mm) and hard to grasp with fingers. I'd also recommend a good pair of tweezers for a couple steps as well. I hope they continue to make more plastic models as well as the wooden ones.

I thoroughly enjoyed assembling the beetle. The instructions and diagrams were extremely well done (I only spotted one error which was corrected in a later diagram), and the tools provided worked perfectly. The whirring wings when finished sounded exactly like a cicada if not a beetle from around here....it even fooled my dogs. If more insect toys of that caliber were on offer by this company, I'd buy and build them all. Great fun!

I have enjoyed many models since I was a child. I have made Cars, Airplane Gundam and RC Car, Model trains etc.. hundreds of them. I think this is one of the most impressive and valuable kit I ever had. Nice detailed and right materials, fine pre-painted, and the right price. YOU MUST BUY.btw I didn't know this model actually flapping the wings untill I assembled, its nice.
