Great tool
What I like is the left-handed design in a non-worm-drive saw (most worm drives are left handed, most others are right-handed), which fits better with my usual usage. I also really like the magnesium plate and the quick, reliable depth and tilt adjustments. All in all a big step up from my old stamped-steel-plate saw, and delivers a level of accuracy that I used to have to go to the table saw for.

A really good saw!
I am right handed, but I like using this left handed side winder, because I can see the cut better. I bought this after my Porter Cable finally bit the dust after many years. This Skil is thoroughly as good as the Porter Cable and has some additional features such as a convenient locking blade mechanism right on the top of the saw. I love the sturdy magnesium table that enables straight, square cuts. I hate those cheap thin metal ones that get all bent after I use the saw for a while. It is very light weight, but still has plenty of power. I also loved the Skil blade that came with it. I ordered more of those because they cut like butter. If you like side winder saws, I highly recommend this one. Extremely well made and not expensive.

If I only know then what I know now...
I bought a new Skil circular saw over 40 years ago and didn't realize how worn it was until now. When it finally gave out recently I decided to buy this one to replace it. It is incredibly smooth and quiet by comparison. Nice power. Cuts through plywood, OSB and dimensional lumber like butter. I'm really starting to appreciate the left side blade, never used one before but it's nice not to have to bend over your work to see what you're doing. Overall a really nice saw and would choose it again.

Great!
This is my third saw of the same kind, love it. The other 2 got stolen unfortunately. Very good quality and just can't beat the left side blade- I don't get the right side blade saws, can't stand them. Will purchase again if you know what. Fingers crossed

Nice Saw
I like having the blade on the left side. I am able to get much better cuts. Getting the cut started in precisely the right place is much easier with this design. The saw is light weight and has lots of powerand comes with a very flexible power cord of ample length.

Much better than expected
I've always preferred worm drive saws because A) - The blade is on the side of the saw that makes sense if you're right handed and B) if you stall a worm drive saw, there's probably an injury involved. I never understood why circular saws had the blade on the right side, but I guess the engineers are smarter than the people who use the stuff they design, and not understanding why they do what they do implies that I'm an idiot. When I saw (no pun intended) this Made In Somewhere Else Skilsaw with the blade on the correct side, and getting too old and weak to fight the weight of my 50 year old B&D worm drive, I bought it. It's awesome. VERY lightweight, very solid, seems to be better made than most other Asian saws I've owned and used...especially my Dewalt 364 that just passed away.Based on my use of it so far, and if you prefer to have the blade on the side that doesn't require laying your head on your right shoulder to guide the blade along a line, this one is absolutely worth it.

Great powerful saw. Frame to finish carpentry.
I’m a frame to finish carpenter and recently picked up this saw. It’s awesome. If you are a carpenter I recommend this one. Not man left blade, corded, side-winders on the market. This one is super powerful, and easy to cut a fine line with. Give it a shot.

Compact and Easy to Handle
The saw is nicely balanced and easy to handle. The angle and depth controls are easy to adjust and the levers are made of metal (not plastic like on the much less expensive Skilsaw). If you are just an occasional DYI person be CERTAIN to read the directions before you use the saw. Be sure to install the blade with the company logo FACING THE MOTOR HOUSING! Circular saws always cut from the bottom up so the "pointy points" of the blade must always face forward toward the front of the saw. Also, set your depth so that the blade is showing only one-tooth of depth through the wood stock that you may be cutting. In so doing you will have a much cleaner cut with very little splintering on the cutting edges. Also, the cord on the saw is really generous in length. It is ten feet long and of a very heavy gauge. This means the saw can be used for long periods of time without the cord heating up (be careful if you use an extension cord with the saw because the extension cord could be of a lighter gauge and subject to overheat). Note that the saw IS NOT super light in weight. It is not unreasonably heavy but if you are expecting a "feather-weight" saw you will be disappointed.Overall, I am very pleased with the saw's performance and features. Additionally, the price was good and shipping from Amazon was, as usual, great!
