5 years of MTB with these and still loving these
I've been using Power Grips for 5 plus years mountain biking and love these straps (black and blue level trails). Most of my friends clip in and they all get in the most ridiculous falls simply because they can't get their feet out of their pedals. The genius of these is the angle of the strap. They hold you feet to the pedals when you are ridding and with the slightest pull back on your foot or tilting of your heel outward, the tension completely releases. You get 90% of the connection with the pedal as clip-in with 0% of the "can't get my darn feet out of the pedals" risk of clip ins. I've heard complaints that the pedals are not high quality. The pedals are not $200 LOOK pedals, granted. If you want to feel cool spending a lot of money on expensive looking clip in pedals and doctors' bills, then get the clip in pedals. If you want to ride with a much lower risk of injury, without giving up performance, then these are for you. I've also heard the pedals are hard to get into. Both clip-ins and power straps are hard to get into until you learn how. Once you learn to put the ball of your foot on the pedal and tilt the pedal backwards, the strap goes over your toe every time. I don't have to even look at the pedal to get my feet in now. Next time you try that step incline and end up falling down because you can't get your foot at the last second, remember reading this and try Pedal Grips. You will not regret it.

Feel the power!
A couple years ago I signed up for a Century Ride completely unprepared. So I went to my local bike shop looking for help on getting my mountain bike set up for 100 miles of road. He suggested these (along with a few other things) to get power from both the up and down stroke of each pedal. It took a few trys to get used to getting my feet in and out of these but after that it became very easy. The pedals have a lot of grip and keep my feet in place. The strap, if adjusted right is comfortable, even after hours of being strapped in. The entire assembly is well built and tough. Should last for years even under trail riding conditions. The strap, while tough, is also fairly heavy which causes the pedal to flip upside down before you hop on and get your foot in there. Like I said it's easy to used to after a few tries.Compared to clips these are heavier but cheaper. Egg beaters have a lower profile and can be clipped in regardless of pedal position unlike these. No special shoes are required for these, which can be not only cheaper but more comfortable. These probably take a bit longer to get in than clips. For competitive road riders, these aren't for you. For all other road riders and mountain bikers, I'd say these are a great option to highly consider. I liked mine so much, when I broke down and got a road bike, I put these on them as well.

Great if you dont like clips
I have tried many different kinds of pedals. I have had the clips with the shoes that you cant walk in after you get off the bike. The ones that make you scared as hell to stop and go in traffic for the fear of falling on your butt, which I did when I couldn't get my foot out.I have had the plastic slip ins that my shoes didn't fit into and they were flimsy. I read the reviews for these Power Grips and ignored the hard core people who didnt like them and only like the clips. Im glad I did. I am not a hard core cyclist, but I do ride a road bike and like some good speed. These were perfect for me. I put them on my bike very easily. I didnt have to adjust the straps as they fit my foot perfect. Getting your foot in and out was very easy even the first time. My foot is secure and I can get out right away if I have to stop suddenly. The Power Grips give you more power to pull up and the pedals, which have teeth like grips keep your foot from sliding. I like to wear my asics sneakers when riding so that I can walk around after getting off my bike. One thing I didnt know is that they make a performance type pedal that is lighter, but this pedal works great for me. I try to have fun riding and I am not anal about the power in my pedal. These will work for you if you dont like clips and want a secure foot.

Much better than I thought
I bought these last year because I was dissappointed by my feet sliding off of my mountain bike's flat platform pedals. I didn't want to go with "clipless" pedals because I was new to mountain biking and didn't want to fall while trying to 'unclip' as I've heard inexperienced people often do. I also didn't want to have to buy special shoes if I wanted to go riding on a whim. These pedals have done the job - and CONTINUE to do the job - wonderfully! There was a dramatic difference in my ride - specifically my control of the bike and power going uphill - after installing these. With regular platforms, you're really only getting power on pedal at a time, whichever pedal you happen to be pushing down on. With these, you're able to push and pull on both pedals at the same time, thereby getting more power and stability to your ride. The straps themselves are very durable. The guide recommends checking the screws every couple of rides. I've been riding for a year and haven't needed to do a thing. Just pay special attention to the guide's advice on how to put your foot in. Make sure you insert your foot in an angle then straighten; provides a much snugger fit. The guide they give you goes into better detail.Another plus: The straps are plenty big for my size US 13 Wide foot and I imagine they'd be fine for 14's as well.Seriously my single best mountain biking purchase.

Shoe Size
I have size 10 triple E shoes, and can barely get my toe in the standard size I ordered. The Power Grip site does say anyone whose circumstance is over 12 inches should order the extra long (mine are 13 plus). I will put these on my wife's recumbent in the meantime.
