SmittyBilt GEN3 12K SYNTHETIC - SB98812

I had some serious reservations ordering a winch via Amazon. I had done enough research to have confidence in the brand and the product, but I was concerned with the seller and the shipment itself being a struggle. I can tell anyone considering ordering this, that this product arrived in 2 days with free shipping (on a very heavy winch) with zero issues. The money saved in shipping alone made ordering this on Amazon worth while. It was installed with out any problems and works like a champ. It arrived well packaged and looks great installed. I seriously dig the wireless remote function on this thing, it makes life so much easier to not be wired to the winch.

This is the 2nd SmittyBilt winch I've owned. I sold my Jeep and left the first winch on it. I liked it so well, I didn't hesitate to buy this one for my Gladiator. For the features this winch has and the capability of it, I can't find another winch in this price point that compares to it. It's an excellent winch with a mid-range, budget friendly price point. SmittyBilt Gen 3 winches carry a lifetime mechanical warranty and a 5-year electrical warranty so nothing to be scared of there.I think the closest competitor to this winch is the Badlands Apex, which seems like a solid winch for the money coming in slightly lower in price than the SB but the Badlands winch only comes with a 90 day warranty according the HF's website.The SmittyBilt Gen 3 winch is ready to go right out of the box, just wire it up, bolt it up and go. The controller works well wired or wirelessly. It checks all the boxes for me. And it looks great as well.

I got a really nice (to me) Jeep Wrangler JK and it had an older winch and bumper.I wanted to refresh the winch and get a bumper that suited the vehicle more and found these on here.The bumper from Rough Country really matches my Jeep and this SmittyBilt winch matched the bumper so I got them both.The old bumper was stupid-difficult to remove because of poor/lazy design engineering BUT, the new one is so well desgined, it pretty much simply bolted to the frame and the winches' bolt holes just by placing it and tightening down the bolts so, good design work there.The Winch has a wireless controller that's charged with USB or you can plug it in directly if the battery dies, which is great long-term design planning. Nice work.The remote even has an LED light built into it for when you're using the winch in the dark. Again, great planning.The motor seems to run smoothly, the parts and materials look well-integrated and planned.My only gripe is how the wires aren't integrated into the body of the winch so they need not be so badly-exposed.As you see in the image, they stick awkwardly out the back when they could have easily passed under the plastic body. Maybe newer models will make that change.Anyhow, I'm stoked for my new Winch/bumper setup!

This is my second Smittybilt winch, first a Gen 2 10k (used for 5 years) and now a Gen 3 12k(used 6 mths) both with synthetic cable . They are very well made and dependable so I would call them excellent guality. Wireless or cable remote work very well. Cost is fair and reasonable.

Only used it one time so far but it worked out great. I have it mounted on a 2023 chevy 3500 diesel and it pulled me no problem. I did use one snatch block but that was mainly just to stop any unnecessary drag or rubbing on the line. At the time my truck was pretty loaded up and was likely weighting well over 10,000lbs And I have to add the remote will work from way further away than what the manual says it will. Also the synthetic line is great no issues with binding like steal cable will do if your not careful. So far I am very happy with my purchase.

I've been offroading for decades and as much as I love Warn or Milemarker products, the price can be a bit steep for rigs/users who only casually use them. This would be my third Smittybilt I've bought and installed (all the others are still working good too) on one of my rigs and I've VERY impressed. Always works like it should, never has issues, and the price can't be beat.Would highly recommend one, and the next time I need one for another rig, I'll definitely be buying this again.

Does the trick for the right price. Wireless remote is a great safety feature and is well built. 6 months in an no issues.
