Q: Does anyone know if this will harm a clearcoat? OT: What's an advisable clearcoat cleaner to prep for double side tape?

Alcohol is always the recommended cleaner as it will remove most residues and dries quickly leaving a clean dry surface. If applying to clear coat I would use a small amount of this only on the area underneath what you want to stick. It is designed for automotive applications so any effects to the clear coat shouldn’t be to extreme

Q: Using this to get double sided tape to install my plastic trim on car, do I apply promotor, let dry and stick tape on it?

You can use VHB series tape with this primer and be careful to keep it clean while using.
