Good robust pedal. Plays well.
This review is for the meindl direct drive cajon pedal. Not the cable drive one. This is a solid well designed piece of kit. Someone has put good thought into it and yet kept it a simple design. The metal is strong and the screws and other components etc feel robust. And very importantly no wires to snap! I've done 2 gigs and a few rehearsals and beginning to feel I can trust it as a reliable pedal. There is some sideways flex in the pedal leverage system and only time will tell if the components are up to it but so far so good. And I think I would see any wear on components before they broke so I don't expect any surprises during a gig.Playability: I like the playability of the pedal, it feels responsive and you can adjust the height of the bar and strength of the spring. The beater gives a great sound to the cajon. I do find my foot slipping forwards on the bar over time but I'm sure I can fix that easily with a little experimenting. It does feel different to a bass drum pedal, your foot is on a bar so if your used to a bass pedal you might struggle a bit. I haven't played a 'normal' bass pedal for a long time so I adjusted fine and can't compare it. I'm starting to be able to get good funky beats with multiple bass drum hits out of it and any lack is my ability rather than the pedal!Price: compared with the high quality cable drive pedals it's a bargain and worth every penny, there's other direct drive pedals out there but when I looked at the reviews and playability they didn't seem as good. I'm also glad I have a pedal which didn't cost more than my Cajon. And the best thing is I don't need to worry about the cable breaking which seems to be an issue even on the high end cable drive pedals.

Goodish but not great
This sort of does the job okay but its not perfect. The design puts a lot of stress on it and it twists very easily so you'll need to keep adjusting it back into the correct spot after every song, which is annoying. Design needs to be looked at to improve it as it trying to do something that's possibly close to impossible.Makes a decent sound too. and easy to fit

MEINL CAJON DIRECT DRIVE PEDAL - GOOD AND BAD!
Great pedal, rubbish mounting bracket - BEWARE. The direct drive pedal takes a bit of getting used to but once you get the technique it’s very versatile and works well. Sadly, the same can’t be said for the bracket that clamps to the cajon and to which the pedal is clamped. After 2 uses (mild playing, rehearsing with s swing band) the bracket snapped off the clamp. I raised this with Meinl using their online contact form. 2 weeks on and no response. It’s too inconvenient to return the bracket and pedal via Amazon as I need the pedsl for more rehearsals so I have bodged a fix. Poorer quality and service than I’d expect from Meinl to be honest.

Meinl direct drive cajon pedal
Looks well made and does the job.Ideally there would be a flat bottom plate under the metal rod, so it doesn’t press into a carpet floor when you play. I went to a DIY shop and got a small flat metal plate- it helps make the pedal a little more responsive.

NO INSTRUCTIONS
It appears that you have to lift the bar with your foot to get the pad to hit the cajon. When you unpack you find there are no instruction on assembly or use, so it might be me. I have done the best to assemble from the photos.

Petal for cajon
Well its really got the right distance for foot and it is adjustable. Everything is adjustable. There are two things that don't like is the thin padding for the base that attaches the cajon. Needs more so to not damage the cajon. Back of cajon clamp could have a long angle across the whole bottom edge with padding to keep from one place being damaged. Also the petal foam is flat not curved. It makes a flat ringy sound not a pillow in the kick base sound. All could be fixed with rubber tape and gauze rapped in sports tape for petal beater. Besides that it is made well. Strong. I like it very much. Would buy it again. Daniel

Es lo que esperaba
Lo único es que no viene con un instructivo, require de unos ajustes que se hacen con la llave que incluyen y listo, queda muy bien.

Pedale molto preciso nell'utilizzo. Purtroppo scivola.
