All pencils are a combination of both wax and oil, these lean more to the wax side, soft and creamy but with very little wax bloom. HTH Have fun coloring!!!

Yes, the 120 set is part of the 240

The darkest red is not very red. My red rose is more of a pink than red. I was hoping for a more saturated or pure red. Any suggestions?

Some of the colours in the bundle seem kind of born but turn red when you color with them. The best thing to do is color the boxes on the sheet that comes with the colored pencils. That way, you can know what color you are choosing, and see it before you choose it. It is really super handy, and the reason I know which color is which in that giant thing od pencil colors.

Are these colored pencil cruelty free?

I honestly don't know. But, for as long as I have been dealing in colored pencils, I want to say that Amazon doesn't normally deal in or with cruelty. You could probably Google the brand for more details though. I do apologize for not being able to help more.
