I used it after. Before would decrease efficiency of treatment and may clog head. After cools skin and reduces risk of a reaction, although nowadays I use body lotion.

Gel is for before if I have remembered correctly - but you don't need to use it, I don't.

Sorry , I don't know. I bought the gel to use with Philips IPL - Laser hair remover BUT you don't need to use it all, waste of money.
