The flat bits that go against the wall are rubber everything else is metal

Can the ends be removed to slide the curtains onto the rod?

One of the end caps does come off. It’s the one at the thicker tube end. I could not remove the end from the thinner tube’s end. Hope this and the video helps. Nice and solid.

What material is the white one made from. Please

Hi, its been a while since i fitted them but i think it was aluminium coted in white plastic, they were strong and havent fell down yet! hope this helps
