Not a Drop Inside During Rainstorm
I rarely write reviews, but I can't NOT write about how great this tent performed during a torrential rain storm. We are in our 60's and gave up sleeping on the ground years ago - but when these "attach to car" tents came out, we thought we would give it a try. It attached perfectly to our 2008 Toyota Matrix, which does not have a roof rack. The Matrix worked great for fitting 2 of us to sleep very comfortably with an inflatable mattress that allows space for the wheel wells. Ironically, this was not the tent I wanted - but that one was out of stock, so I reluctantly went with this. I was hesitant because there were not many reviews and the one video review, the guy unfairly stated how difficult it was to set up. We did not find it difficult at all. Went up in about 10 minutes, but I could see it being a challenge for one person. During our camping, we had an incredible rain storm for about 9 hours and there were no drips in this tent. We did not prep the seams as advised and with the elastic around the car, we expected some water - but not a drop. The two door awnings allowed us to keep the windows open as it was hot/muggy. I would advise a ground tarp as I believe that helped us as well as being on a sandy site. Other campers in tents packed up in the night as their tents did not survive the windy, heavy rain storm - while we leisurely watched movies listening to the rain pound on the room of the car. We love this tent. It is roomy and has a couple of pockets inside. The only critique I have is they should have added a loop at the top to hang our lantern......but maybe that would have compromised the seam. Plus, you can zip up and drive your car away leaving the tent free-standing. This set up is a great hybrid for older people like me who can't store a trailer or RV and want a low-cost, higher end clamping experience.

Great tent for car camping!
This fit really well on my 2011 Kia Soul when I went car camping for the first time. I used magnets to make sure the connecting tunnel part stayed gap-free as I really didn't want any bugs coming to visit inside! The tent was a really good size, made for a nice area to change in and even for 4 people to hang out while playing card games before bed. Setup was pretty straightforward, easy for 1 person though the rain fly was easier with a second set of hands as I'm pretty short and this tent is tall. Ventilation was good and I liked that it had 2 doors and could be disconnected from the car if I needed to drive somewhere. It was pretty easy to pack up as well, though I'm good at planning the folds so others might have some issues getting out back into the bag. The price was great, would definitely buy it again!

Great tent!
The media could not be loaded. I bought this tent this summer and have used it twice. I’m a pretty happy camper! It can be hooked to your SUV or it can be a free-standing tent. If you want to go on an excursion, you can unhook and drive away.Pros: This tent is like having two tents in one because your SUV bed/cargo area can act as a second bedroom. Or you can sleep in the tent and use the cargo area as your kitchen/prep area and place to store food, cooler and clothes. It was 95+ degrees when I went camping so I slept in the tent to get the cross-breeze from the lake. The windows are huge! Thankfully the temps were in the 70s at night. My single-bed air mattress fit perfectly and I had plenty of living space. A double-bed air mattress would definitely fit too. When I camp in the fall when it’s cooler, I might sleep in the cargo area because my car is higher off the ground and warmer. And if a bad storm popped up or an animal like a bear visited, I could close the tailgate and be safe.Pros & Cons: This tent has been designed to fit different-sized SUVs. I have a mid-sized SUV. Your tailgate door is what holds up the 4th side of your tent. That side has an elastic edge so it can fit different SUVs. But there needs to be a way to pull it in tighter so it’s snug. If it’s not, there will be gaps. Water can’t really get into your tent, but insects can get into your car. I got a family of ants. The way that you attach the straps to the tires is important. Make sure you adjust them so the elastic edge lays flat and tight against the sides of your car. (I now carry bug spray to spray all around my car.)The rainfly and top of the elastic edge slid down my roof a little after it rained and water pooled there on the outside. Water did not get into the tent but that side was wet when I folded it up. If the rainfly was extended a foot and a long yellow tie line added, it would solve this slipping issue. A tie line should really be added to the elastic edge of the tent too. Those center lines would keep the tent and rainfly tight and extended over the roof. They could be tied to a roof rack or staked down in front of the car. It rained hard and no water got into the tent, but it would shed water better if they could be tighter. The rainfly worked great over the main tent. It is designed to line up with the window awnings and the points of the fly are held in place by Velcro. It rained 3 nights in a row and it kept the tent completely dry.Something to keep in mind when choosing a campsite. This type of tent is a new concept, but campgrounds are set up for either tents or RVs. If you want the tent attached to your SUV, you need to be able to park on the driveway but set your tent up on the ground/gravel area so you can stake it in the ground. When I camped, the gravel area was on the side of the driveway. The driveway was too wide so I could only stake the tent down on one side. Plus, the asphalt made the tent really hot. Next time, I will try to choose a site where the gravel area is directly behind or at the end of the driveway.A few picky things- I love the color of this tent, but it would make it so much easier to figure out where the bottom is if the tent was one color and the bottom of the tent was another. Having two colors would make it easier to set up.I’m very short- 4’11. So, I had to have two friends help me set it up and take it down. I think I can do it by myself next time, but keep in mind that it’s a large, tall tent. Getting the long poles in (and out) by yourself can be challenging. Especially in wind or on a 95 degree day.The only other thing is I wish this tent came with a loop or strap in the center of the tent roof so you could hang a lantern.Lastly, the mesh pockets inside the tent are handy! Just don't leave your phone in one when you fold the tent up. Speaking from experience. :)

Sturdy and spacious!
I camped for 3 days with this tent. I slept in the car and my dog slept in the tent (her choice not mine🙂). It was relatively easy to setup and fit around my car perfectly (2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness). I will say the top of the tent was a little loose fitting probably just from the shape of my car being narrower at the top so that was a bit of challenge. I think I could’ve adjusted the straps or put a covering over top to fix that but it wasn’t a big deal. It’s a great tent that I see myself using for years to come on trips.

Great tent. Bad design.
Love this tent and with a diesel heater I'm able to use it all 4 seasons in the Northwest. Problem is that the 3 tent pole quick setup design isn't so quick. The 2 main tent poles that make up the main framework of the tent are extremely hard and annoying to slide into place and just as hard to pull out when breaking down tent.
