Does this slice fresh home made bread successfully please

Yes! This is an excellent slicing guide for homemade loaves. I have used it for both loaves baked in my breadmaker and in my oven with equal success. I've found you need a good bread knife with a fairly thin blade and you must leave the loaf to cool completely but I can highly recommend this product.

What size loaf will this handle? Height and width only, obviously!

The instruction video with the product points out that the best technique istofirst cut any loaf in half. Then place alternative halves face down in the wide channel and begin slicing. There are no limits on loaf length or height. The. 140mm wide channel is capable of accepting any home baked or commercial loaf.

are the slots big enough to use an electric bread knife?

I have had mine for a while now and it does not take electric knife blades. The slot is a snug fit on a bread knife the maximum thickness of knife slot is 2.5mm – 1/10 inch along the entire length of the blade. Some get thicker near the handle and can distort the slots. Unfortunately Amazon does not state this but the maker (Simple Slice) does on their website. I have a Panasonic bread maker and I use this to cut the bread. The "trick" to using it is the same as a hand saw with wood, let the blade do the work and don't force it. I use mine at least five days per week.

Will this work with a bread knife with an 8" blade?

It will be possible but I would recommend a 10"blade
