It was a good game and now it's done.
Coming up with a rating for Noobs in Space was hard for me. It is a good game, but the game is a one and done adventure. The instructions were easy to follow, but a lot to take in at first. I find this to be on par with most card based playing games, so this did not bother me, but is worth mentioning. The gamebox and cards are made of good materials, not flimsy. Eye-catching artwork and easy to understand tasks. The adventure is fun and does inspire teamwork and communication while you work through levels. This game may be nice in a group setting like a classroom or a job site, but for a family home the ending line in the description holds true. The perfect card game for A fun and exciting game night. "A" singular game night. No replays with $15 price point is a 3 ☆ game for me, no matter how fun it may have been.

Test your family's communication skills
In Noobs in Space, a team of new astronauts take on a series of missions to manage their derelict spacecraft. My young family has enjoyed playing this cooperative card-only game. Literacy is a must, however, and some of my younger children struggle slightly.Noobs in Space is cooperative in the fullest sense of the word. Each player's hand of cards is private, and tasks often require cards from multiple hands. As such, each player must pay close attention and contribute when needed, or the mission fails. It makes "quarterbacking" difficult, a common problem in other cooperative games where one player makes decisions on behalf of others. The theme is lighthearted and fun. Each mission is about 15 minutes, allowing multiple missions if time permits. Each mission comprises various tasks. A typical task entails a player reading the instructions aloud and asking other players for the applicable cards so the accompanying picture can be built. Part of the game's charm is that it would be much easier to show the players this picture, but the player instead has to communicate it with words. It tests the player's ability to use critical thinking and communicate. At the end of the mission, the team checks their solution against the key and their time against a rubric—five stars if correct and done quickly. Three missions in, we are having fun and plan to finish.

Enjoyable set of 8 15-minute thematic card-driven scenarios
This is a series of collaborative puzzles that build somewhat in difficulty and mechanism, all based around a maintaining a spaceship theme, and the mechanism that you can't show each other cards, only talk about them, and that once you've played a card it has to remain. Most of the puzzles would be pretty easy for one or more people to solve, if they had all the cards spread out in front of them and could easily compare. The difficulty mostly comes from needing to check with each other regarding what cards of certain types are present, and drawing conclusions based on that, and/or needing to compare (often somewhat visual) elements of different cards that are scattered among people's hands and decideIt's all rather cleverly and charmingly done, with the instructions for the puzzles also being contained in cards scattered among the players, which need to be solved/executed in the numbered order. Is is a solid little offering vaguely in the escape-room-in-a-box genre, which can offer a fun evening to a group of people, and then easily be reused by a different group (or perhaps years later), since nothing is altered in the game components.

Fun card based task solving game with a lot of replay value!
Ordered this game to add something new to game night. We do enjoy games, but so many board games have gotten to the point that they're extremely complicated, take a lot of time to set up, and even longer to play. That's great if you want to dedicate an entire day to a game, but sometimes you just want a game you can pull out of the box, sort a few cards, and get to playing! This game is exactly that. From opening the box to sitting down to play took less than 10 minutes, and a whole game took us about 30 minutes. I will note there's a discrepancy in the description, as the website says 2-5 players, the box says 3-5 but we played with just the 2 of us and it played great! The quality of the box and the cardstock of the cards themselves is very high quality, the graphics are crisp and clear, and the illustrations themselves are nicely done. This is the sort of game I'd be happy to buy as a gift for someone I know that's into games, because I'm pretty sure that they'd enjoy it and the chances of them having it would be pretty low!
