A good looking boot, but no where near as well constructed as they look out of the box.
On arrival I removed the tacky Sketchers metal tag from the bottom lace and proofed the leather with an appropriate wax. The boots don't have a waterproof membrane so I'd take the "waterproof" claim with a pinch of salt, although so far they've proven totally water resistant. Water resistant was all I needed for what I intended to be a 3-season boot. The boots look good, not flashy and they required very little breaking in (initially they are a little stiff around the padded top). They are supportive and cushion the sole over hard ground and they grip mud and wet grass sloped surfaces very well indeed (I fish rivers). Looked after (they are leather and all leather has to be looked after) I imagine they will provide many miles of service in most conditions. Basically, a very good boot and exceptional value.Update. I bought these to replace an almost worn out pair of Timberland boots. The Timberlands (badly worn after 10 years but still very comfortable) staggered on another year and only recently have I started using these boots on a regular basis. Unfortunately, after I'd guess 50 miles of walking, the seal between the sole and boot has started to fail. The boots are still some way from falling apart, but the writing is already on the wall. So not really walking boots then, more pub boots that merely look rugged. As 'pub boots' they are probably worth five stars; as walking boots they remain very comfortable but at just over £100, they fall short on longevity and value.

The 2nd best pair of boots that I have ever owned!
First gripe! The selection of colours for this range of boots was quite large; These were described as 'Dark Brown', but in the picture shown, they looked more like a dark orange...and These were the ones that took my fancy!. What a pleasant surprise, when I opened the box, to find they were exactly the colour as shown. Personally I would have described them as 'orange dark brown' or 'Dark Orange Brown'. Or more accurately as Dark Marmalade.I'm a size 7, these are a size 8, so I expected a 'little give' but they fit beautifully and with a good width. I just have on some thin cotton socks at the moment, but with a good thick pair of working man's / walkers socks, they will be perfect. The quality is superb, and I walk a minimum of 10 -12 miles a day, every day, often a lot more. The heels and toe caps are reasonably re-inforced, without being steel toe-capped. No blisters etc. My only concern is a little chafing above the ankle bones, but I am so skinny with thin ankles, that this is unlikely to be a problem for 'normal people' and will probably get sorted with some thicker socks anyway.I'm no fashionista, but these boots just look so good! The reason these are only my second favourite boots is that I have a pair of ankle length leather Jodh boots (for riding) bought over 30 years ago, which cost £120 way back then (Manufacturer 'by appointment to her majesty the queen') Not that I'm a Royalist, or not one! lol.Only other gripe; boots were £44 but delivery was almost £8, which seems OTT, but they did arrive only 1 day after being ordered, not that I'd requested it, and weren't included in items 'eligible for free deliver' as I had also ordered 4 other items at the same time.Great boots though. :)

VERY comfortable
I like PROPER winter boots for when it's cold and wet - and these boots are properly made, and look like they will last a long time. They are REALLY comfortable, especially as lots of footwear is just not designed to be comfortable these days. I'm not sure if these are now discontinued, but they were not available in my nearest Skechers store (Liverpool) or Pavers.

Good quality souls to boots and good fit!
In the past I have had boots from ShoeZone and other off the shelf shoe retailers and I always found that the boots where either a little too big and I had to do the laces up tighter or they where too small, but with these boots I find they are just right. Don't really have to do the laces up all that tight at all. They are warm, hard wearing and comfortable. Do be warned if you do the laces up too tight they can squash your foot a little, from my experience at least which can be quiet unpleasant after a while as it can cause your feet to become achy but just bear that in mind and these shoes are pretty good fit. Didn't take long to wear them in either which is nice and they are not overly heavy like steel toe capped ones I have had in the past where they have made my ankles ache after a day of walking.Over all I would say they are good boots, just make sure they fit and don't do the laces up too tightly as they will hug your feet.

Not happy
This is the second pair of these Sketchers boots I have ordered, the first pair I ordered were a size 8, which is the correct size boot I take, but they were very tight, like they were mislabeled, so they exchanged them for a size 9, which fitted. A month later, my ankle was hurting, and it was because the tongue kept sliding to one side, revealing bulky large stitching which was rubbing on my ankle. I contacted Sketchers and they gave me a credit note to buy another pair, but only on their website which the cost is £100 where whereas on their Amazon site it's £70. Is their Amazon Sketchers site a portal for defective items?
