Wish I'd bought this 30 years ago!
I always hesitated buying a wire strainer because they used to be expensive and I use them rarely but this one is very cheap but very sturdy. No instructions but you can easily look on internet videos to find out how to use it. A bit fiddly until you get the knack and then it is easy. You don't need anything more fancy - this one does the job perfectly and I got fantastic tension on the barbed wire round my paddock (don't forget the straining post is more crucial than the strainer!)

Great budget strainer.
Really pleased with strainer.Wouldn't of managed without it.My only gripe is it doesn't grip wire with a sprung mechanism. It's a little fiddly to you get the hang of it .Otherwise I was impressed.Great bit of kit.

Invaluable fencing tool
Bought these strainers to help me tackle 300m of stock fencing. This was my first ever attempt at fencing and these strainers were easy, if a little fiddly, to use and enabled me to properly tension the wire and achieve a result I'm really proud of. Really robust tool and great value for money.

Get what you pay for,!
Maybe not top range, but OK for the money.

Good Value
Wasn't sure about the sprung jaws as my old pair are un-sprung, but they worked fine for me. I felt more comfortable guiding the jaws along the chain just to make sure it stayed put but I guess I could always take the spring out it it becomes a problem. Did the job so nothing to grumble about.

Great tool
I have 2 of these fencing pullers which I paid a lot more for than this one and cant tell the difference if anything this one allows you to tie off on a strainer . Very impressed good product very well priced

Low cost but does the job with a few niggles
As a volunteer on one of the RSPB sites I am currently involved in mending/replacing miles of barbed wire and mesh fences.Needing another strainer I decided to try this cheaper version and have found that it can easily pull the recommended 150Kg straining pull as measured on a spring balance placed in the wire run. It is nearly as easy to use as the more expensive version we have.Comparing this strainer to the more expensive one we use I have three negative comments to make.1. The wire clamps put a slight curved bend in the wire where they grip (does not happen on the other strainer we use) The wire coating is not damaged.2. The clamps are not easy to release after straining and I have resorted to using a hammer to gently tap the end of the clamp to release it especially when clamping barbed wire and cannot tap it with my hand.3. The blue plastic on the handle slips off very easily and needs to be glued in place as in use there can be a slight pull towards the end of the handle and every time the dam thing slides off. This can be dangerous as the considerable pull on the handle is suddenly released allowing the handle to fly out of the hand
