Well-made and will most likely last a long time.

Seems fairly sturdy. The leather scabbard feels a little flimsy though. Does what it needs to though.

Genuine hickory and genuinely awful quality. I saw a review that said this axe was basically a peice of dull metal on a stick, and that's the best way I could describe this thing. I have an axe that's two years old, dented, chipped, and amateurly sharpened with a dollar store stone and it is honest to God sharper than this axe when it came. It also came covered in rust that was very fun to clean off. I bought a rust remover solution immediately after this mess arrived and it didn't fully cleanse the blade. With as much cleaning and sharpening I could do, it is now decent, but certainly not worth the effort if you consider buying anything else reputable. It may be a gamble wether you get poor quality or not, but why take the chance? Save your money.

Purchased for my husband for Christmas. He was really happy with it and said it was a good quality hatchet and is looking forward to using next time we go camping.

My hatchet arrived as usual from UPS in a damaged state. The hatchet however looked great. The hatchet head itself was loosely mounted on a hickory handle. Looking down from the top you could clearly see the wedge end was cracked all over. When someone shaped the handle for the hatchet head, it was poorly done. Termites could have made prepared the handle better. The quality department needs to hire better quality.I requested a replacement and Amazon didn't blink twice. I sent the original back in the original damaged package. I dropped it off at a UPS store, the clerk asked what happened to that? I said UPS is what happened to it. Oh, UPS, clean the inside of your trucks. Every package I ever get from UPs is blackened from your truck interiors.

A country boy, it was not very sharp. Some time on a bench grinder it's better. A little file touch up, with a metal file / whetstone you could shave with it. Won't get that sharp because I despise shaving. Nice little tool.
