This model has been out 5 years - is there a newer model available?

Maybe. Check Amz. But if this is still on sale at a cheap price, buy it. A b/w laser printer is a laser printer. Paying more might get you faster output but little else. For home/home office light service, I find mine excellent. Wifi connection was easy, seems very stable - all good.

Dimensions appear to make any sense. Please can someone provide the actual size in centimetres?

My Brother HL-4343W Mono Laser Printer is 13 inches wide and 10 inches from front to back. I use A4 size paper - I see sliders to make the space suitable for smaller paper but it is not suitable for larger than A4.

Can this work of a tablet

Yes, you need to use the brother printing app to connect your tablet to the printer wirelessly.

Can it automated double sided printing？

Hi, This printer cannot automatically printer double sided. You will have to do this manually. If you would like a Mono Laser Printer which can printer Duplex please look at the - HL-L2340DW.
