I use medium brown, for my dark brown hair because on my gray hair, the color is dark. But that is ok because it matches any dark brown hair I have left. I have tried many other brands, even the ones that claim to provide professional results. The Swartkopt is superior. I use the 20 volume developer with this 1:1 ratio. Just be aware that the meduim browns are very dark

My stylist used this brand and color on me, but during Covid I started doing my own color for a fraction of the cost at salon. I mix this 1:1 with developer and sometimes with a darker brown for deeper color. It covers gray hair well if you apply enough and leave on for 45 min. I dont do the whole head every time and when i do, I apply to ends the last 20 min. Color comes out great. I do need to touch up every 3-4 weeks due to grow out.
