Fabulous bin! Looks stylish and fashionably retro, but with a modern twist. The sensor for the hands free open lid function is genius, and has made my life so much easier in the kitchen. The inner bin liner area is designed so it tucks the top of the sack inside the bin, so looks very neat. No untidy plastic showing. Incredibly well made and very stylish for a bin, I love it!

I had another Swan bin exactly like this one but in green. The lid opened much wider. On this one the lid only opens a little crack. Not good, given the cost!!!UPDATE! - The bin is now working perfectly. Swan customer relations team were very helpful and told me I just needed to take the batteries out for a few hours, then replace, and it the sensor would work. And it worked! I love the bin :)

I had 2 Swan auto bins. One for recycling the other for rubbish. Great looking retro style. I washed a lot of the recycle stuff but didn’t thoroughly dry it. So unfortunately the inside of the bin rusted. My fault! Managed to get a new one through Amazon 😄 (I now make sure I line it) Happy customer!

I bought this a few years ago and didn’t get round to writing a review.Like you, I imagine, I wanted a stylish bin for my kitchen as it’s an essential item that is always on show. I did think this was a lot of money to pay for a bin, but I liked how it looked and thought it would be a good investment.It went to the tip some time ago.I had no issues with it for the first 6 months. No problems with the sensor; it wasn’t over-sensitive and it didn’t go off it someone happened to walk past. It went off as it should and the lid opened easily. But then it stopped working and the sensor didn’t activate at all.Changing the batteries didn’t fix it, and so I continued to use it as a manual bin by opening the lid by hand. I was disappointed but could live with it. Some time after that, the lid wouldn’t open at all. It was stuck in the closed position. I kept using the bin, but had take off the top section to put something in it, and then attach the lid again. This is a two hand job due to the weight of the motor.I had been googling like a demon during this time to try to fix the issue, and I discovered lots of others had the same problem.Please do not buy this bin. There’s s strong chance it will stop working after its initial honeymoon period. I don’t want you to waste your money and suffer the same frustrations that I did. This is an expensive item and I’d encourage you to explore other options or stick to a handsome manual bin.

It just seems to be like any other cheap kitchen bin. It has no feel of the actual price and I know that the technology in the lid could have been put together 20 years ago with my teenage electronic tinkering for a few pound. We'll have to see how it stands up as time goes, but the price seems to be mostly for the looks. For the price you'd want to be getting something that feels solid and heavy enough to beat the OH with. Luckily it is not solid or heavy as I bought the bin to match the other items. This won't do any damage and is just an annoyance. It's still a cool toy. Warehouse deal price made it much more attractive.
