Buy foil tape as well.
My wife has a very sensitive nose and started smelling something coming from the vents. Similar to a gym sock. We Called out an ac company and they said our ac was to old to deep clean because bit might not work after it was put back together because of leaks. Our ac is 18 years old and I believe them. Their recommendation was deal with it, ad a uv bulb to an old system for about 500 bucks or switch out acs. I found this on Amazon and figured it's this or switch acs as dealing with it wasn't an option. Install time was about 15 minutes after getting the ladder and what not together. You will need to purchase ac ductwork foil tape to minimize air leaks out of the system. You can buy that online or Depot as well. I used a knife to cut into my ductwork. Very easy. It's about a month later and the smell has lessened quite a bit. I assume time will eventually kill the smell completely. It's fighting 18 years of yuck and costs less than a service call so I'm very happy.

Great product, easy to install
If you are going to install this, make sure you are the delivery side of your unit, not the supply side. You may need special screws depending on your type of ductwork, so be prepared for that. One nice side benefit is that this glows, so you can dim the lights and the light leakage will show you where your ductwork might be leaking, giving you a chance to re seal the ducts. It runs all the time, so buy an extra bulb when you order, so you don't run without. I would check it at the beginning of every heating or cooling season.

Good Value
I installed the D200 almost a year ago and it was time to change the bulbs. The indicator light was out. When I changed the bulbs, they lit up, but the indicator light did not. I'll set up a reminder on my task organizer to check the replacement bulbs in about 9 months.Overall, I am pleased with this unit. I had an old unit that the HVAC company installed, but the annual maintenance was twice the cost of this unit. The D200 has the UVC bulbs and the catalyst grid, and I can't tell any difference from the old (NASA "approved") OEM unit. Both improved the air quality in my house.I don't remember any problems installing the unit. I adapted the old OEM mounting plate by enlarging the hole to match the D200 profile.

Original bulbs lasted the whole year.
I've had this for a bit over a year. I just replaced my lamps for the first time, they didn't burn out after continous operation for the whole year. I just changed them as part of seasonal preventative maintenance. My HVAC system also has a merv 16 filter and i have not had an allergy problem at home for over a year now.I have had much improved sinus and allergy symptoms. My family has not been sick, but that could also be from social distancing/covid measures. Our air quality feels great and we do not have an odor problem.

Peace of mind - totally worth the cost
I found the coil on my 10 year old Carrier system had a refrigerant leak during annual maintenance. After doing quotes from four companies, we went with a Trane system that included a five-inch Honeywell filter bay. We bought this when we knew the whole system was going to be replaced and the installer put it in for free. He even wired it into the air handler, so I don't need to run an extension cord. Now I have a U/V light shining on my brand new Trane coil and a 5 inch MERV12 filter keeping particulates out of the air handler. It's been a week, and all of our family members with asthma and allergies have really noticed the difference. I don't know if it is the light or the filter or a combination, but air quality in our house is better than it has ever been.

Great, but do not put where the light hits your air filter!
I had read a few reviews where others had mentioned problems with deterioration of paper type filters...I should have believed them! After just a few weeks, my filter was full of holes! Otherwise, it is great...just don't install in a location where your filter is exposed to the light.

*Review After +3 yrs: Do not buy*
Do not buy! This review is being submitted after using this product for +3 years. Every year diligently changed both bulbs with recommended bulbs only. Have all receipts.Upon attempting to change 4th round both the holders which holds the bulbs found cracked and disintegrated in my hands. This clearly indicates the plastic this company uses is not UV safe. Clearly means the plate on top supposed to generate ions is also of dubious quality.Effectively can not recommend at all. If a company manufactures UV lights but they use parts which are not UV resistant speaks volumes of their approach and standards.

Ballast won't last, and no response from the company.
I have had this product for just under two years now.The other day, I went to do the yearly bulb replacement. What I found was both the lights burnt out with a black char at the base of the OEM replacement bulbs. The LED that says the unit was still operating correctly had been lit just before I unplugged the unit.Upon replacing the bulbs, the two bulbs failed to light. There was the typical indication of a bad ballast with the bulbs flickering and attempting to light. I took the original bulbs that came with the unit that I still had on hand and tested to make sure it was not the bulbs. It was not. It was the ballast.Since the unit was just under 2 years old. I attempted to contact the company via their contact form, on the chance that the unit may still be under warranty. It has been 4 days without a whisper from them. I have monitored my spam folder as well in case it wound up in there. NO response. So, instead of being able to write a long term review of the unit and the customer service experience even if the unit was not under warranty. Here I am having to type this negative review, instead of saying I got a quick response from customer service.I don't like leaving negative reviews. I much rather point out the positive of something or someone.I hope I can update this with something positive in the future.
