Q: How do you clean the granite before using it for the first time?

Before first use and at regular intervals, depending on use, we recommend a deep cleaning. Grind about 2 tablespoons of dry rice grains in your mortar. This will help you to get residues out of the stone pores. The rice absorbs both the smells and the color of the spices that have been ground. Q: Is the inside surface smooth or rough? The issue with my current mortar is that the spices once ground get stuck inside the small holes.
