Excellent. Transfer speeds are great. Does the job right.

Causes Power Surge
Error message: Disconnect device drawing too much power from USB port. USB port shut down. To enable, disconnect device from port.-- Or something like that. I fiddled with it trying to fix the error, but the error is correct. This cable is not capable of converting the data to a format my computer can utilize. It's too big of a jump to go from firewire to USB.I purchased this to connect my old Time Machine hard drive to my refurbished 2012 Macbook Pro, in order to back it up so I could upgrade my macbook pro from El Capitan to High Sierra. I am going try again using a different adaptor to convert firewire to thunderbolt instead.

Good quality, works well
Occasionally, if you work with vintage Mac computers, you may need a FireWire cable. This one fills the bill.

I think I might need this one day.
It looks to be well made. It’s still in the sealed package. Don’t know when, but going to try it with a DAW that requires a FireWire 400. We’ll see one day

Broken and couldn't use
Came broken on one end. It was crushed in.

Great adaptor
This worked well to convert old style USB units to the newer ones.

Do not buy
Do not buy. Plugging in this adapter could fry your computer’s USB ports and the board.
