Black Aria - Crystal Blue

Short, sweet, dark neoclassical masterpiece
I owned this on cassette when it was first released, very happy to own it again. This is a classical record, it's short, it's dark and it is amazing. A perfect soundtrack for Halloween, a stormy night, or a nighttime drive. The cover art is amazing as well.

This is Not Typical Danzig - It's Better!
Don't get me wrong, I love Danzig's 'typical' music, but this album is something completely different. When first listening to the music, you might have a hard time relating it to the Danzig we're all used to, but the more you listen, you realize that the same dark and gothic undertones are present even in this compilation of classical, instrumental music.I am a person who prefers to work by music, and I find this album to be ideal listening for any time that I really need to concentrate on what I'm doing. Again, it might not be the type of music you'd expect from Danzig, but I believe you'll be pleasantly surprised.

A Nice And Relaxing CD For The Dark And Sinister
Before I got in a review of "Black Aria" I would first like to relate a story. I had a friend of mine who purchased this album shortly after it was released. He was a big Danzig fan as I am myself. I remember him giving me a call and telling me that he just got Danzig's new album, and wanted to know if I wanted to listen to it as well. I declined the offer because I was busy at the time, but I told him to tell me what he thought about the album. A couple days later he phoned me and said that he did not enjoy the album because it was too diffrent and that it was not a "Danzig" CD. Being influenced by this review from my freind I did not rush out to the record store and purchase this album. A few days later, I visited my freind and was suprised to see him listening to what at first appeared to be classical music. I asked him what CD he was listening to, and he replied that it was Danzig "Black Aria". He then told me that he actually enjoyed the album and it was a good album to kick back and just relax to. I purchased the CD soon after I heard it at my friends house. I know that this little story probally sounds a bit cheesy, but it was the only way I could describe the effect of this album to Danzig fans of old and Danzig fans of new. "Black Aria" is not your typical Danzig album by any means. If you are wanting to listening to a hard and powerful Glenn Danzig then you probally will not enjoy this CD at first. However, this album is truly a work of art, Danzig does not stray from the dark side on this album, he just presents it in a new and clever way. Like I said this album is relaxing and thought provoking. When listening to it you find yourself becoming swept up into the melodies of "Black Aria" and can actually imagine with vivid detail the story the album tells through instruments and not words. This is truely Glenn Danzig at his experimental best. "Black Aria" is a great album to experience when you thimk you are ready to experiece hard and powerful music on a new dimension. It may not be as heavy sounding as other Danzig albums, but it is heavier in ways you can not imagine until you give it a listen.
