works for my "herd"
I have six (yes 6) dogs and 2 cats... The dogs are indoor-outdoor kids...you know, if they are in they want out and if they are out they want in! We live outside of the city limits and have our share of wildlife - fox, raccoons, possum etc. along with all the neighbors who let their dogs run loose. I do what I can to keep the yard sprayed - but it becomes a loosing battle by the mid-summer to late fall. This product keeps the fleas off the dogs and makes such a difference during those periods when our Mississippi weather promotes the mad hatching of fleas. I have tried other products in the past - nothing works like K9 Advantix for our household. We have a place in the "hills" we visit from time to time - notorious for ticks - we have yet to have any ticks return with us from these trips! Our six "kids" fall into three different weight categories - two are right on the upper end of the cut off - with those I use the next dose up. They range in size from an 85 pound German Shepherd to an 18 pound Poodle mix. None of my pups have every had a skin or nervous system reaction to this product. No problems and no complaints.

Best flea/tick medication for our needs. Also covers mosquitoes but not Heartworm, which has low risk in Southern California
We researched multiple flea medicine and finally went with K9 Advantix II. Compared to other flea & tick only medication, K9 Advantix II checked more boxes than the others. In addition to killing adult and developing fleas (which any flea medicine should do, unless it's just water), it also prevent ticks (which Advantage II doesn't) and mosquitoes (which Advantage II and Frontline Plus doesn't).The only other one we seriously considered was Revolution for Dogs, since it covers fleas, ticks, AND heartworm. Using Revolution would allow us to skip giving Heartgard (for heartworm). But the reason why we went with K9 Advantix is because we looked at the exposure of Heartworm where we live, in Southern California, and it's a super low exposure rate. There was a higher exposure rate to mosquitos (which Revolution does not cover), so we went with that.My advice to those researching which medication to buy, fleas and ticks coverage is necessary everywhere. Look at the exposure rate of Heartworm and mosquitoes where you live to see if you need coverage for that (just search for maps online, there are plenty). And buy what fits your needs. I don't like the idea of over-medicating, so the bare minimum is better than wide coverage.NOTE: I'm not an dog expert, just a conscious pet owner. If you have doubts, talk to a vet.

Advantix has been working well for us!
While I was skeptical that topical solutions worked, our vet has recommended this to us for our particular area, and so far, so good! We had previously been using a 3-month pill, which I loved due to the convenience of only feeding your dog a pill every 90 days, but this topical solution is plenty easy to apply, is cheaper than the pill options we had, and has been working well for us to this point. I didn't give a full 5 stars because we haven't used Advantix during the worst point of our summer time, so that has yet to be seen. Here's to hoping I'll be back to add that last star!

Great product when used properly and carefully!
I have two very active English Springer Spaniels. We hike, bike, camp, canoe, sail and anything else we think we can do. I really like this product because the time from when you apply the product until when they can get wet is quite short compared to other products. Plus, this product protects my boys from more pests than the other products.I just make sure to be careful whether I apply K9 Advantix or if I were to apply a similar product. I apply it immediately before bed time so they can't play or wrestle any later that night to keep them from getting the product in their mouth. Plus I don't let them play with other dogs much the next day to keep those other dogs safe as well. We've really not had many problems as long as we use the product properly and carefully.Happy romping!!!

Worked When Nothing Else Would
We mixed up some all-natural stuff...killed one or two, but not all of the fleas. We bought some all-natural stuff. We bathed them in vinegar+dish soap. We bathed them again in Insect Guard Shampoo. Still spotted fleas when we looked through the fur. This stuff knocked them all off overnight. No more scratching waking us up at 4am, no more worrying about a flea infestation, either. I really, truly wanted to avoid putting something on my dogs that I wouldn't put on myself, but they were miserable and all the natural stuff we tried just wasn't saving them from the fleas. It's been a few days, and they seem much happier and more relaxed. To be fair, the natural stuff did kill the fleas as well, but not as effectively. We laid our puppies out on the floor and went through them with a comb, spraying a natural oil mixture on any flea we spotted. They died instantly, but this was after following the directions on the bottle, dampening all the fur and rubbing the stuff to the roots. Spent hours working through fur and killing fleas and still we didn't get them all.

Satisfied with Advantix
After dog #5 and #6 was left to fend for themselves at my gate it became to expensive to use Heartguard along with flea and tick control. I switched to Advantix (I used frontline for years with great success against fleas and ticks) because it repels mosquitos and flies as well as fleas and ticks. I thought if mosquitos aren't biting my dogs will have less change of contracting heartworms. Because I live in the middle of the woods we are plagued by mosquitos, ticks and deer fly. After appyling Advantix the deer flies do not swarm my dogs. I think it works with the mosquitos, but I never really saw them on my dogs before. Only down fall is it may fall a little short of 30 days. I have found an occasional tick when it's near the time to retreat.
