This is a good hand plane.
Pros: it works mostly well right out of the box. How? Here’s how:• the iron is sharp enough to pop hairs.• it’s almost perfectly flat heel to toe (flat enough for 99% of people and the other 1% know how to get it perfectly flat which took less than an hour).• all of the adjustments work nice and move smoothly.• the chip breaker sits flush on the iron with no daylight between the two.Other pros:The iron is a good quality steel and the adjustment screws (stainless steel), the body/sole are nicely cast, and the handle/knob are beechwood which will last for a long time with the rest of the plane. It’s pretty affordable. Besides old Stanley’s, I have not found a hand plane under $100 that actually works or can even become functional with fine tuning. Harbor freight, Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Menards were all extremely expensive or cheap trash that will never work no matter how much you try to fix the issues.Lastly the adjustable mouth opening makes this plane extremely versatile. It says smoothing plane which you can use it as such, but you can also open the mouth up and adjust the cut depth for more roughing in work.Cons:It is somewhat heavy for its size. Also for a SMOOTHING plane it won’t work quite right for you out of the box because the irons edge is cut straight corner to corner. For a smoothing plane especially, you want to round the edge so the corners are maybe 1/64th of an inch behind the rest of the edge. That way they don’t cut and you don’t get lines on your surface.

Very good plane for the money
I gave this plane 5 stars for several reasons. The price was competitive with most low end No. 4 planes. The plane arrived in good shape. The packaging was acceptable. It's probably the 'cleanest' No. 4, low budget plane I've ever purchased. The blade is good quality. Typical of planes in this price range, tuning is required. The blade has a typical 25 degree grind that has to be polished, and the rest of the plane needs to be checked as you typically would for flatness and square. Aside from sharpening, my plane arrived in very good shape, meaning the frog was flat and adjusted, the sole was flat, the body was square, the blade clamp was flat. The take-up or play in the blade depth adjustment knob is consistent with mid-price range planes, let alone low cost models like this one. All in all, I gave it 5 stars because, for the money, it's literally as good as any of my $200-300 dollar planes, and didn't require any more tuning than those did.

Surprisingly good.
Jorgensen is surprising even seasoned woodworkers with their new Plan line. Good quality with features usually only found on high end tools. Requires some tuning and sharpening, but stable and performs like a plane double or triple in price. Keep an eye on these guys...

Great plane for the price
The Jorgensen #4 is a great plane for the price. It appears well built. Had to sharpen the blade but I guess that is to be expected. The blade sharpened as expected. Once tuned in, I am getting the nice shaves that you see the "experts" on YouTube making.

Solid planer
This is heavy duty and well made. It absolutely takes time to get it dialed in and took me a good while on the sharpening stones. Once I had the bevel set, it took me a while longer to get it seated correctly. Now it shaves the wood like butter. Much better quality than the Amazon basics version they started selling.

Amazingly sharp blade and smooth finish.
At first I thought, “what a paperweight!”, but after my first stroke, I was hooked! The blade adjusted easily. It took about 10-12 minutes to plane down a 1’ x 7’ edge glued panel. Very sweet planer. Size:I was thinking of a longer jack plane, but this was sized perfectly.

Great starter plane.
All planes need some adjustment/tuning and this one did too but it did produce shavings out of the box. Best plane under 100 $ that I've seen.
