I therefore hesitate to offer as unequivocal truth my answer to this question, uncertain as I am of my facts, and I hasten to divest myself of any claim to authority on this topic. I grant you that I have used soap on a daily basis (twice on a Saturday) for the duration of my adult life, and even dabbled as a child on such occasions as my mother saw fit to invigilate. Yet no reasonable onlooker would credit me with expert knowledge on that basis alone. To be clear: I have not performed any laboratory assay on the product in question, and indeed have no intention or wherewithal so to do. Neither have I visited the factory of its origin to interview the shift foreman under a bright light with the old jug of water, towel, and electrodes. Notwithstanding this, I can attest that the hefty ingot of soap is imprimed on one of its six faces with "72%" in large, bold type. Interpretations of this mark may vary, but I take it as a declaration of the olive oil content in the product, and I have scant reason to doubt it. You must satisfy yourself as to the degree of confidence you can ascribe to this evidence, and weigh that against your own needs.

Can this soap be melted to make it a liquid soap (for use in a foam pump perhaps) i.e. add water?

I melt the soap and add it to water, washing soda and borax, to make a laundry liquid. So yes you can melt and add it to water BUT, you will have to shake the container well, BEFORE every use. Hope that helps.
