Great for single channel at 283MB/s. Multichannel SMB is disappointing though :(
I purchased this dual port card specifically to used multi-channel SMB transfers to my new Asustor 5402T. I already have a 2.5Gbit RTL 8125 NIC on my ASUS z690 Motherboard (using a 14700k) which is really good with the 2.5Gb ports on the asustor. It hits 283MB/s and doesn't flinch or deviate for entire large transfers. Adding a secong single RTL 8125 NIC doubles it to 525MB/s. However i thought i'd give a single card solution a try. Unfortunately it tops out a lot lower at a steady 343MB/s. I'm a little at a loss as to why. I've tried it in all three pci-e slots. Both spare 16x slots and the 1x slot (all of which have more than enough bandwidth for 5Gbit even at 1x. Also tried both the microsoft whql built in drivers on Win11 23H2 and the latest realtek drivers, to the same result. Which is a shame as using the motherboard NIC and a cheap single 2.5Gb nic in multi-channel mode works fine. It's cheap enough, but not worth using 2 more ports on a 2.5Gbit switch and double the amount of cabling. Was a good experiment though.
