I had carpet beetles. These wee annoyances were the bane of my life. I tried many resolves until using the permethrin solution, which was very successful.Solution works great - recommend getting another bottle that sprays as a fine mist, as these spray like a super soaker. Cannot speak for the fogger as I was afraid it would make my house smell.However, if you’re using for carpet beetles, it is VERY important to know what species of carpet beetle you have and it’s life cycle, as it affects when you will treat.If you have the 12-15mm long ‘black carpet beetles’, you can pretty much use this solution any time of the year and it should do the trick, because to my knowledge, they breed/lay eggs & hatch into larvae all year round. If you have the teeny weeny 3-4mm long ones with a mottled grey and brown back, you will want to continue reading below - these are known as ‘varied carpet beetles’.Life cycle of the varied carpet beetle is as follows: egg (30-100 laid per adult) / hatching into larvae (hairy worms) / larvae stage (2-11months) / pupal stage (morphing into adult) / adult stage (2-4weeks). Total life cycle is up to 1 year.The carpet beetle is only a beetle for a tiny portion of its life - but this is when you’ll get your chance to kill it. The larvae stay hidden (likely in your walls or behind baseboards) and feed until emerging as an adult - so you’ll waste your time using the solution at any old time during the year as it is only effective for a couple of weeks. The adults show face once in their life to breed, after this they lay eggs and die (within 2-4week period). They will start emerging in the spring/early summer. AS SOON AS you see your first one emerge in spring, use this treatment under all baseboards/ floors/ nooks/ any place you’ve seen them.You’ll only know if you’ve killed them all the next spring/summer. But prepare, mark your calendar and buy this solution at the start of the year. Because if you see them again, you’ll only have 2-4 weeks to try and kill those pesky boys.
