Superior to pyramid shapes ...
This design absorbs and diffuses better than pyramid shaped foam of any thickness. Period .

Thick, fairly dense, good quality foam panels
When it comes to acoustic panels, thicker is better, so these 3" thick panels will likely perform slightly better then the 1-2" panels that are typical at this price point. Having worked with these for a while now, I can confirm that this is the case - they provide slightly better sound dampening against echo/reflection.Whenever I review acoustic panels I always add in a public service announcement - these will not soundproof a room. Period. They are not designed for that purpose. They can be used as *part* of a soundproofing solution but won't get the job done on their own. That's because these panels are chiefly designed to combat high- to mid-range sounds as they bounce off hard surfaces (like walls and ceilings). That said, these panels do fairly well at the job for which they are designed and I do recommend them for that purpose. The design of them looks pretty cool on the wall - especially when grouped together. They are3 easy to install and are cut consistently creating a seamless covering is not overly difficult.

Firm and sharp-cut
These panels are firmer than most and sharply cut to deliver precise corners. They have held their shape, dampen noise, and look aesthetically pleasing. I'm happy with them.

Funky
Out the plastic these ones smelt a bit worse. Probably from being so big. Took a bit for the smeel to go away. These also have a funky design I hadn't seen before. I like it and I get what they were going for. I'm not sure these work as intended tho. But they do work as far as I can tell. Screaming into them can help you know how effective they can be and at what distance.

NO adhesive at all
I had to use tacks to hold up. there was NO adhesive at all yet the review asked me to rate the adhesive... Guessing it is missing?

Arrives super-compressed
These acoustic panels are vacuum sealed in their package and should expand once you remove them from their sleeve. One minor hiccup to the self-expansion is that the cut edge of the foam tends to stay pinched tight, even when the rest of the foam expands (see attached photo). To fix this, simply pick at the unexpanded part a little bit and it will fatten up like the rest.

Works Great
Love the ability to configure the panels as needed. Word of warning: Do Not Use Spray Adhesive unless you plan for permanent installation. We went to pull the panels off to move to another room and lost some of the backing and drywall/paint. We will probably use staples on our next attempt. But these are working for our purpose to prevent sound reverberation. Excellent quality and no problems with expansion out of the package.

Potentially useful for echo but little to no difference for Sound proofing
These tiles claim to be for soundproofing. I didn't expect it to completely soundproof my laundry room, but I did expect it to make at least a difference, especially at the price they charge. The fact that their is no adhesive backing is also just cheap. Like I said, if you're just looking to stop echos in a studio, these may work perfectly for you, but as a soundproofing product (which they themselves claim to be) it's a massive waste of money
