When you give people the power of the review, some will abuse it. The truth is, that this board is the Earth Board by Galaxy Gammon (?) except they charge $1,300.00 with shipping. It's the exact same board for LITERALLY 1/8 the price ! This is a tournament board! With the extentions on both sides it's 30 in. by 20(?) Another reviewer said splinters are coming off the cups and that the bar is uneven. This isn't true. Someone's upset because people now don't have to PAY $1,300.00 for a board. The cups aren't "cheaply made" or "poor quality" They're EXCELLENT QUALITY for the PRICE ??? These could EASILY go for $500.00 ! These are a work of art and decadent craftsmanship for $129.00 including shipping !The only MINOR downsides I can think of would be;1. This is about 20 lbs.2. There is no handle or latches, so bringing this anywhere to play is inconvenient. There are internal magnets though and they are very strong.3. The interior surface is fabric, not wood. I wouldn't have any foods nearby of any kind. It could possibly stain for the long term very easily. Just be careful and this won't be an issue.Was it WORTH the $129.00 ???Go Google backgammon boards under $130.00.You will NOT GET THIS KIND OF QUALITY FOR THE PRICE ANYWHERE ! -- I PROMISE !

The 20" board and its pieces are lovely. The size of the board and the distinct colors of the pips make play easy.The case and trays are wooden. The counter pieces and cups have substance. The dice are child-sized, but the cups used to throw the dice make the size of the dice a non-issue.The board is of felt that feels good to the touch. As others have mentioned there are no seams in the board.The instructions are clear and easy to understand.This is a game well worth the purchase price.

Well thought out construction with the checkers, dice and dice cups snugly fit into their own completely enclosed wood container that sits inside the board. The inside of the board where the triangle points are located is covered in a thin foam like material that makes the dice silent when they are thrown onto the board (it makes for a peacefully quiet game). The brilliant usage of small round magnets that are inset into the wood holds the board securely closed, yet it easily opens. We are a family of backgammon players and this board will hold up to be passed on to future generations.

This is a very attractive large board with expensive looking details. The playing surface is quiet. However it is not cork it is some kind of artificial material but does not feel cheap. Unfortunately it came with some minor scratches but I didn’t care because I like it so much. We aren’t really using it but it looks great

For those new to the backgammon world good boards can go for as high $300 to $1,000. This board for $130 does a good job mimicking those high end boards. The dark wood matches very well with the green board and chips. The cloth game pad is soft and the wood dice cups combine to create a satisfying sound as you are rolling. The checkers are large and easily move around the board. The hinges on my board are slightly misaligned but not by enough to create any gameplay issues.While longevity remains to be seen and an issue for any hinged board. For someone with a family or kids this is a great middle ground that mimicks luxury without the fear of losing too much if kids get ahold of it. The cloth mat does seem to be on the fragile side. I would have preferred a neoprene mat.

It's beautiful and very nice to play on. My wife even wanted to play me again even though I started beating her too often 😅Here are the minor flaws. These are very small complaints and I'm happy with the set, having found workarounds.1. As someone else said, the dark checkers are relatively plain on one side. See the photo with 2 checkers. For some reason the white checkers are fancy in both sides. However this turns out to be a feature because of problem number 2.2. In our set, one of the dark checkers is hard to differentiate from the white checkers. See photo with 3 checkers, where there is one dark checker and 2 white checkers but they are that hard to distinguish. Can you tell which is which? So we turn the ambiguous one over and have it be plain but dark. I contacted the manufacturer on their Facebook page a could of days ago about buying spare checkers and they have not replied.3. No handle. It would be really nice to have one given how heavy it is.Others complained about an uneven bar for placing checkers on. This was not a problem for mine. Maybe the manufacturer fixed that issue.

The only way you're going to find a better board is to pay 800 to 1200 dollars or more. Like some other reviewers the hinges are slightly misaligned but to me not any kind of issue. An easy fix if you want, but again 1/32 inch is not a problem. Like another reviewer I too use the shipping foam to keep the inner case from possibly sliding inside when handling. This is a perfect addition for your game room. The foam feels nice to play on, the dice sound and roll sweet, and the checkers have a good clink to them. The magnets are very strong so there is no danger of the case opening. However if you are looking for a travel set, THIS IS NOT IT! It is way to heavy and awkward to carry for casual play. Also make sure you want a large board. You will be reaching a lot on a larger table. Younger children and smokers could damage this board easily due to the foam surface as well. None of these things are a negative, just a heads up.
