So, we are using this system in a freshwater fish room for our aquarium business. The site we are on has well water, so I paired this system with a Sim Pure spin down, CTO and MPP filters. The ballast works fine, i wouldn't spring for the pro ballast unless you really can't keep track of the month. Our bulb changing month is July.The system is defiantly bright. 55w for sure. The current system isn't leaking, the quarts tube and seals are doing their job. Only time will tell with the bulbs but so far work great. like others have said, the safety switch is a little cheap and while in our case it didn't matter, I'd be wary of putting it on my house. But overall, it works and kills all of our pink algae and other bacteria, and the Sim Pure filters help with sediment problems we face from the well water. Filters go down to 5 microns and anything else past that will be ZAPPED.we have it running at about 8gpm, so the water is being hit for longer, which tends to kill more off. Its also steel, so the internal reflections you'll get inside make it a lot more efficient than a black plastic type one. ID buy it again. The warranty registration process was easy.

I got this unit, installed it and everything was fine. Thank goodness I had to do more work in the basement because the rotating threads sleeve on the flow sensor split and started leaking. I am hoping to get a replacement through the manufacturer, but we will see

I almost never write reviews but felt compelled on this one. Overall the unit does what its supposed to - only turns on when water is running, etc. The trouble is if you are in North America, you will have problems. The threads on these will screw onto female pipe if it is plastic but there are ever-so-slightly different than npt. I would guess many on amazon are this way as it is difficult to find a flow sensor like the ones provide with the unit that are anything other than g threads. If you try with brass or stainless fittings, you will strip something for sure... I would have returned the item but it sat waiting to be installed for 6 months... I ended up ordering adapters on here for fairly cheap ($10) that will work. Just be careful not to overtighten the fittings with the washers. That's the other thing, they NEED washers. You'll notice, the flow sensor has one, if you look closely...I suspect this will resolve most leaking issues. That's what it's supposed to do and it came fast. Really hard to find replacement lights
