Good little book - but not perfect
Good book but due to its size I guess does not have much detailed information on each breed. Also noticed some mistakes - most noticeable one in the description of a bloodhound. Look at the top right bubble description referring to its name origin and then the sentence regarding name in the middle of the main paragraph - completely contradicts itself. So will be reading the rest with a little pinch of salt and some external resources

Really helpful and informative!
I realised my knowledge of dogs had started lacking again and wanted to have something I can keep next to me at work (doggy day care) and it’s become very handy. Other employees even read it! Although I do find it interesting the Borador can live to 16!! I have two 12 year old boys and that made me really happy to read that. Although I wouldn’t call them a designer breed, they’re very much companion dogs like the lab

Shows breeds you never knew existed!
The "450 breeds" had me intrigued, as there are only 213 UK Kennel Club recognised breeds to date. I like to think I am a bit of an aficionado on dog breeds, having been raised by parents who had a big dog breeding/training/boarding/security business, but I was really surprised to find quite a number of dogs breeds I had never heard of. Each breed page shows a range of info about it as well as health and interesting history facts, which I will find it invaluable for my work of needle felting breeds of dog. You can see my work on FB, Instagram and .com as "ChicktinCreations."I can only think of one little negative and that is, although most of the breeds were shown standing and side-on, I wish all photos of the breeds were shown standing and side-on, so you could see their body shape much better for reference. Not easy to see the shape of a dog when sitting or laying down. That said, I am really pleased to have this lovely book in my reference section now and will be regularly used for my work and will be highly recommending it to others.

Great Book
This is the first truly extensive dog breed book since the Macdonald Encyclopedia of Dogs was last printed in 1986. Like its predecessor the focus is on giving a comprehensive snapshot of all the main dog breeds available today rather than an in depth study of particular breeds. It's like the old "Eye Spy" books and is great fun for any would-be dog spotter. It is an American publication and the breed standards are those of the AKC, not the English Kennel Club, but that's a minor issue. The illustrations and brief stats are superb and ideal for younger readers to get hooked on identification.

Good gift
Bought this as a gift for my father in law who’s looking to get a new dog but can’t decide which breed to get. It has a pretty complete list overall and lots of important information about each breed without giving so much info that it becomes overwhelming! A great book!

The most informative book of dogs!
I bought it for my husband, received it on Friday and he hasn't put it down. He has dementia and it is the first time I've found something to keep him interested. The pictures are high quality, the pages are thick, and the information is off the charts! If you are contemplating getting a new dog, but not sure what, get this book.

All the needed breed information on a single page in consistent format!
Not much to dislike as for those I researched from other sources generally agreed with the information provided. All data regarding each breed is clearly displayed - mostly on a single page. Average lifespan, adult height and weight are shown in an easily deciphered bar graph. The history of the breed and common health issues are each shown in a box format. Common colouring is also presented. Most importantly, the format remains consistent throughout the book. Pictures mostly include one of the adult as well as the puppies.
