I got this intending to introduce at least my oldest to chemistry and lab experiments, in particular, of course, the elephant toothpaste experiment. After first educating myself a bit, I've realized we'll have to wait a little for him to be more ready, not mention us. But all indications are that it will work. The packaging and labelling and descriptions all indicate the real deal, so we are very excited to one day soon (hopefully) try this out. But my advice is that if you are thinking about getting some and don't know what you're getting into, do your research first and make sure you are prepared.

I got this to try the elephants toothpaste experiment with my kids, and it worked great - fast reaction. You can find the instructions online - just exercise precautions and do it outside because it makes a mess. But it definitely works and is rather hilarious.That being said, although I have no way to verify, it does seem quite pure, and I assume it's lab grade designation is accurate. I store it in a cool, dark place, locked away from children.Overall worth it. If you are looking for something to do the toothpaste experiment, this works.

We got this for our Science camp this Summer and now we are not likely going to be able to do the intended experiment.I had no idea potassium Iodide had an expiration date. I am really glad this is good 2 years from now! We will use it for the next camp.In the meantime I was delighted that this came in a bottle and with some scientific info and an application spoon (not just a bag of substance with no info). This increased my trust of the brand and product that it really is 99.9 % purity. We may be able to find a different experiment this year yet!
