I'm in love. These knives are amazing.
Item being reviewed: NANFANG BROTHERS VG10 Damascus Steel 3-Piece Knife Set, with Slicing, Santoku, and Paring Knives for Cutting Meat, Vegetables, and Fruits, Perfect for Home and Commercial Kitchens.Price at time of order / review: £99.99.I am thanking the fact that I used to know a very excellent blacksmith who did damascus knives because I know exactly how these are made and the correct procedures for taking care of them so they will last me the rest of my life. The biggest thing the average person is probably not aware of is that damascus steel is NOT the same as stainless steel. You cannot treat it the same way. You're going to want to handwash these knives, dry them, and then oil them. Go online and do some reading to educate yourself or you'll end up having rust and etching issues. That said, I am in love with these knives. The quality is excellent. The edge is so sharp and it's so easy to cut things with. I'm glad I have a proper whetsone set to sharpen these with in the future. I don't anticipate having to do that anytime soon. They're so beautiful to look at with the lovely pattern on the blade. I'm debating on buying a set for my brother who loves cooking. The only thing missing is a bread knife. The three included cover pretty much anything else a person does in the kitchen.

Extremely high quality steel knife set
Well straight away, I was in awe of the quality of these knives! They're made of very thick high quality steel and feel like they'd last a lifetime. My first concern was that the handles wouldn't be safe in the dishwasher, but I was pleased to read in the manual, that they are completely dishwasher safe, although the manufacturer doesn't recommend regular dishwasher cleaning. I think it may be a good idea to treat the wood handles if doing this regularly. A small price to pay for such a quality design and look. When it comes to performance, wow, I thought our old knife set was good, but these are just rock solid and glide through everything with ease. I wouldn't recommend using these with a marble chopping board as it will dull the blade, but with our olive wood chopping board, they seem great! It does state in the information leaflet not to cut 'hard' objects. I was confused by this, but the knives have cut everything I've thrown at them with ease. I was particularly impressed with how they glide through meat and steak in particular! The smaller knife it brilliant for cheese cutting! Something which I'm now addicted to since getting these! For a set of Damascut steel knives, these represent brilliant value for money, compared with other sets you can find online. All in all if you're after a very high quality set of solid knives which will last a lifetime, don't hesitate to buy these!

Well balanced and sharp
Item received in good condition in a box with foam protection. The knives themselves are really nicely balanced and fell really good to grip hold and slice with. The paring knife has the most use so far but all three have there uses and have been used multiple times. The handles are made from a wood with a nice finish to them although this does cause a point of frustration for me as you can see in the picture the handle of the largest knife is a different colour to the other two and as they are displayed in my kitchen it does frustrate me. Likewise despite the very good quality of these knives and there very good sharpness I really don't think these are Damascus steel at all but rather a good steel with an etched marking on them.Despite this they are still used daily and are very good.

Extremely sharp and have beautiful wave effect on the blade...
This knife set comes in a nice presentation box with the knives beautifully displayed inside on top of a felt backing. The whole package gives everything a special and quality feel to it all and the box is nice to use for storage. The knives are some of the most attractive ones I’ve seen with the wooden handle and the eye-catching pattern on the blades. The wooden handles have a beautiful grain to them with all different shades of brown with the grain. The blade has a lovely wave effect pattern over most of the body with the edge being highly polished making these extremely sharp. This all comes together to make a beautiful knife which is lightweight and has a good balance in the hand.In use, they slice through meat with ease, and I find it easier to slice food into really thin slices due to the sharpness as it glides through, and it doesn’t grip the food as it goes through. A small movement of the blade is enough to make it glide through even the toughest of food items. I’m no expert with expensive knives but I’m really impressed with these as they are so much better than the cheaper sets I usually buy. There is a card inside the box which explains how to take care of them when sharpening them as they will need sharpening at some point. A regular knife sharpener, stone, or rod will suffice, and the instructions are included for all three.A very nice set to upgrade from your regular, cheaper knife sets…

Sleek, Stylish and SHARP.
So the first word I said when I started to cut some chicken with these as wow. They are sharp and glide through the meat with no getting stuck or missing points where the knife didn't glide through. They are just the right blend of heavy but easy to handle with it not getting uncomfortable over a long cooking session. The Damascus steel is well cut and the edges have a superior sharpening to them upon opening the box. In the box is also a little card to show you how to take care of them, sharpen and store after washing. The only point to note is that you will need to give these a little more care than your normal off the shelf knife set but the pay off will be night and day. One thing that I would recommend you purchase is a sharpening kit/stone that is specifically designed for Damascus steel as as soon as it starts to loose its sharpness you can get it right back in step before more damage is done to the blade.
