I remember as a little girl, the door to door salesman coming to our door with Watkins Menthol Salve. It was a staple in our home in Buffalo, NY. It's great for so many things. I'm an RN. I continue to find beneficial uses for this salve. Besides it's benefits for chest colds (rub it on your chest before bed, sleep in a heavy shirt), it's also great for head colds (a little under your nose goes a long way to ease breathing. Rub it around your nostrils to ease the inflamation from constantly blowing your nose), cold sores (can prevent if applied during the tingling sensation before one erupts), paper cuts, (expedites healing and lessens pain for both) toe fungus (it smothers the fungus so it dies), dry skin (rub it into dry and cracking feet and hands, expecially during winter months).

When I was a little girl, my grandmother used to rub camphorated oil on my chest and neck when I was sick and it’s such a comforting smell aroma. For some reason in the 80s maybe , they took camper oil off the market because people were abusing it. I can’t believe it but that’s true so I am tickled to have this product that smells very similar to the straight camper that my grandmother used. Thank you for your product.

This summer the mosquitos and black flies have been quite pesky because of the heat. I have been covered with extremely itchy bites. Nothing seemed to relieve the itch, even aloe or cortisone cream. A friend told me that Camphor will relieve the itch. I ordered this old "tried and true" remedy, and it works great. No more itching and it is also great for relieving minor aches and congestion. I tried the tip one reviewer mentioned about rubbing it on the bottom of the feet to relieve chest congestion and it really works. I believe that it is a meridian area used in Ayurvedic medicine. I was skeptical at first, but am amazed that it does really do the trick plus it feels good on tired feet. This tin is quite large and will last quite awhile. I looked up Camphor in the dictionary and found that it is the resin of an Asian tree that is a relative of the Laurel. This is like a whole medicine chest in one little can.

I have used this product for over 10 years and it is still very effective for arresting my pain from arthritis.

I have been using Jr Watkins camphor since I was a kid. I am now 82 years old. This company is very reputable. We used the camphor for bug bites bad cold symptoms, achy muscles chapped lips, dry elbows and heels. Remember this product has a minty smell so not something I would wear if I were going out. At home it is great. we treated it like medicine.
