This is a good introduction kit for those who wanting to see what gilding is all about. This has all the stuff you would need to get an item done and has instructions on the listing page to follow too (you can also watch videos online for hints and tips). The preparation is the key to getting good results here so don't skip on this stage. I think it's good, easy enough to accomplish decent results and would make a nice touch to any art project or jazzing up a household item.

I’m quite new to gilding and this set has everything I needed to get started. I looked up some videos online to get some inspiration and guidance on how to use the kit.The gold leaf is very delicate and can easily blow away. Make sure to work in a space without fans or draughts! To make it easier to handle, I used a sharp blade to cut the foil into smaller pieces and applied them with a pair of tweezers. I “hovered” the piece of foil slightly over the painted area and then blew it. This would make the piece of foil “land” on the glue without wrinkles or bubbles. Overlap is fine since it will be brushed off anyway. I saved the extra foil that was brushed off for later use.This worked out a lot better than trying to use the whole sheet which results in a lot of wastage.The brushes are decent quality. The handles aren’t nicely finished, but they do the job and the bristles are soft enough to apply the glue and varnish evenly.This is certainly a craft that needs practice to get right, but this kit gives plenty of materials to work with.
