I use this to connect my usb-c hub...
... to my laptop, since the hub only has a short cable. I've got a power supply, mouse, screen, external disc etc plugged into the hub, and everything works as though the hub were directly connected to the laptop - bur now I have more freedom in positioning the hub.

Works with Thunderbolt 3
Used to extend the connection on a Thunderbolt 3 dock for a laptop. Works great, powers the laptop and no issues with any of the dock functions/external screen etc.

Perfect cable extender!
I honestly can't fault this at all, it does exactly what it says on the tin! It has no bells and whistles, no fancy packaging or anything like that, just simple and straightforward stuff! This is plug and play and can transfer data as well as offering Power Delivery (PD) so it charges stuff too!I use it as an extension for my work laptop as the power cable is just a little too short to reach from under my desk and the extra length makes the perfect extension. You don't really think about needing things like this, but honestly this solves a problem if you have one. One of the best cables in terms of speed and quality I've seen. It's a no brainer.★★★★★ - Excellent

Perfectly fine if you’re after a 50cm long uncertified pass-through cable, no major complaints
This ‘USB4/Thunderbolt’ compatible extension cable arrived in the standard Cable Matters branded grip-seal pouch, with some relevant printed documentation and the cable itself neatly coiled up and held with a couple of twist ties.As usual from this company they’ve made a good quality cable, it’s made from a believably thick and well insulated cable that gives credence to the claims of it being able to take 240W and 40Gbps transfers while still being fully reversible. You do have to pack a few extra conductors in there to satisfy all of that, and they’ve done it well here while still having a soft outer sheathing and very flexible friendly extension cable. Like the rest of the cable the connector and connector bodies are well made and have suitably stiff strain-relief built into them. They also have a compact shape that makes the male end a non-issue for even the tightest ports.Annoyingly there isn’t any identifying markings about the speed or wattage rating or any spec of the product on the cable ends, so once this goes into a box or bin of similar looking cables the chances are good that you won’t remember which one happens to be the USB4 40Gbps extension. I’ve got into the habit of labelling or otherwise marking unmarked cables with a drop of coloured paint or nail varnish, but that really shouldn’t be necessary and USB-IF has dedicated USB4 logos for a reason. I suspect the real reason they haven’t got the USB4 or Thunderbolt logo on this is because it’s a dumb pass-through extension cable and therefore wouldn’t technically pass certification as it doesn’t have an e-maker chip or any other of the active circuits required. To their credit they haven’t actually claimed that the extension is USB-IF certified, just that it’s compatible with cables that are certified. It doesn’t really bother me but even a simple 240W and 40Gbps marking on the connector body would’ve been appreciated, it didn’t need to be the USB4 & Thunderbolt markings or nothing.I’ve had no issues with PD3.2 charging through this and there hasn’t been any noticeable impact on any transfer speeds to and from a Thunderbolt drive and other devices, so it does do what it says on the tin for both data and power. Which makes a lot of sense if this doesn’t have any active electronics inside it, it’s just passing everything on and the transfer and wattage is going to be strictly limited by the devices, cables and power sources attached to it.Overall I've got no major complaints about how the cable works, if you’re looking for a 50cm long pass-through for practically any device this will work just fine.

Great extension cable, very fast transfer speeds, fully powers laptop fast too when tested with PD
Since getting this extension cable a month ago I have used it for extending slightly connections to a phone, laptop, tested both for data and PD - blazingly fast data transfer speeds and kept laptop charged fully. Build quality is good, very durable cover and connectors and the cable itself does not seem frail, in terms of durability i.e. not going to wear easily - but it's not overly bulky, either. A bit short but that is the advertised size and brings it down to affordable value levels for a cable with top of the line specs with thunderbolt compatibility and such. In fact it's the perfect length for most of my use cases i.e. data transfer from a hub to a laptop, or indeed PD, as these devices are usually close to each other so shorter means neater, while extending the initial cable. Importantly yes it's male to female so intended as an extension cable, obviously you need a male to male if you are looking for a direct cable rather than an extension!

USB 4 Extension 0.5m
Does exactly what it says on the tin.Perfect for data transfer and works for charging too.Feels like a high quality and premium product, with good durable cable, and molded connectors (plug to socket USB C type).Sadly USB4 (especially at 40gbps) is still in it's infancy and the price reflects that. However, at £8.50 at time of review, this seems reasonable.I've trusted CableMatters for quite a lot of products and they seem to always give me good quality at a reasonable price.

Good quality cable
Cable Matters makes some of the best cables out there is this is no exception. The build quality is excellent and I really love the quality of casing used for the cable. The length could be better however, that could affect the signal integrity of a transfer if too long. Don’t really have any issues with this.
