The one thing to pay attention to is the two screws on either side. Having it loose, the hourglass turns more freely and smoothly. But it will not hold the position of the sand is on top. You will need to tighten it to hold its position. But that would mean it doesn’t turn as smoothly. One way you can get around this is, to loose it to turn it. Then tighten it when you want it hold its position.

The sizes displayed in the advertised pictures aren't quite accurate, it states the width of the base is 20cm but is 12.5cm though the depth of the base and height are both accurate.The quality is good and feels well made, it's made entirley of metal so there are no plastic components with a brass effect. It has a nice bit of weight so it stays firmly in place when turning the hour glass. There's 2 screw caps on each side to adjust adjust the tightness so you can either have it locked in pisition if you want to. Nice as a decorative piece or as a functional timer.
