Rustichella Fregola Sarda 500g

Tastes just like fregola Sarda.It is not made in Sardinia though.I think it is expensive compared to buying in a Sardinian supermarket - from memory costs EUR 1.50 to 2.00 considering you need to buy a three pack.If you have never tried it, give it a go. I cook it like a risotto. Recipe on the packet is not appealing to me - jump on the internet.My best results are with fresh sausage - my own recipe born from the long ago experience and liaison... like the refrigerator scene in 9 1/2 weeks but without honey and not as much chillie; will give vongole a go one day...

Beautiful pasta. Try this as a starter topped with a couple of chopped prawns, a tiny bit of chilli all on top of a bit of rocket with vinaigrette or home made mayonnaise or pesto. You don't need much, it's a starter. Perfect for the job.

Makes a great change to regular pasta. The grains are toasted and adds a different dimension and flavour. Goes really well with a nice home made tomato based sauce with Salmon etc. I cook it in plenty of salted boiling water and it takes around 15 to 20 minutes, depends how you like your pasta. I use around 50 g per person which doesn't look a lot but it does swell up a lot so although the packet is quite small it does go quite a long way. Got several of my friends on it now too. Highly recommended!!! (No I don't have shares in the company, just think its a great product.Would be much better if they sold individual packets as I think more people would try it.

I love it! A bit expensive comparing of course to the one you buy in Italy but very good!

I'm now on my third order of this. Using it in Nigella's Sicilian clam dish from the Nigellisima book (which is also recommended). It has now become a firm family favourite. I've also used it with mussels and shell on prawns and it tastes wonderful. Quite unusual but incredibly tasty. Impressive for a dinner party as most people have never heard of it, let alone tasted it. Very easy to cook too. You won't be disappointed.

Lovely product, but beware you need to cook it for almost twice as long as recommended on the packet otherwise difficult to chew!
