Rock Solid
Sometimes you make a good buy and sometimes you don't. Sometimes you make an EXCELLENT buy and I rate my MAXXHAUL 80799 as one of those! I researched this purchase hard before pulling the trigger because I knew it would be very hard to return. I have loved this carrier ever since I finished the (somewhat tedious) job of assembling it. I originally bought this carrier because I have a very long driveway and I have to get multiple garbage bins out to the street every Sunday night and back to the house every Monday morning. Walking those bins out was a nonstarter! I wanted/needed the ramp so that I didn't have to lift anything up onto the carrier platform. This product has exceeded all expectations in that regard. A few hacks: I have not affixed the ramp permanently; like other reviewers have suggested, I bought longer cotter pins from Home Depot and I simply insert those when I need to attach the ramp. (Note: attaching the ramp to the carrier AFTER inserting the carrier into my car hitch receiver makes it much easier for me (70 years old) to lift the carrier up for installation. And, obviously, taking the ramp off before removing the platform, makes it much easier to remove.) Using the longer cotter pins makes it super easy to attach and detach the ramp. After several months of successful use of the carrier for the 100 yard trip up and down my driveway, I decided to give the carrier its FINAL EXAM. My girlfriend and I have just returned from a 15-day, 11 state, 3,500 mile road trip and the cargo carrier rode the Interstate Highways at 85 mph like a freaking champ. Of course, I bolted down HARD the anti-wobble plate for that trip (I don't use the plate when I'm on my driveway). We packed all sorts of stuff on the carrier and secured it all quite simply using bungie cords that looped through the 4 metal eye-hole loops that screw on to the carrier platform. I super strongly recommend this product.

Scooter carrier
This item showed up late Thursday night, a day early! The deliveryman was awesome! The item was everything it said it was! Very little trouble putting it together! The item is very well built and looks great! I bought some nylon washers to put between the steel receiver frame and the body of the carrier. You should never put steel and aluminum together, as steel will rot out aluminum. This product is well worth the money!

I knew assembly would be a challenge
Based on other reviews I knew no assembly instructions would be included (none what-so-ever actually; not even a diagram). So I took to Google and found some Maxxhaul assembly instructions for a different model of cargo carrier. Which really was a part list that was poorly organized with a horribly small diagram you can't decipher. But it gave me enough of a leg up to figure it out. Used Youtube to fill in the gaps.I made the mistake of being too lazy to pull out all of my tools ahead of time. socket set (deep not standard) will be your friend along with a hex key to set nuts and bolts. There are a ton of them. I didn't want to risk stripping anything out so I did them all by hand. even then a few close calls. The aluminum scratches easily and is flexible enough that the side rails give and kind of warp a little when moving it around on its sides. But sprang back in to place when level.I am using this for a 120lb mobility scooter, that really will be about 80lbs with the batteries removed while driving.Hitch stabilizer is a must. I was surprised one came with the carrier. I'm not sure if that is the norm.I believe the 2 inch hitch connection is rated for the 500lbs. I wouldn't trust the rest of the actual aluminum frame with something that heavy. The bottom rail of the ramp is not flush with the ground when lowered. so pushing the mobility scooter up the ramp is a bit of a challenge. I plan to zip tie some thin plywood or plastic to make a smoother transition and give a more solid base over all. Keep any debris from kicking up between the slats.I have a Ford Escape with a lift gate. When the ramp is locked in the up position, I can not open the lift gate, the cargo space of the carrier is just small enough that the ramp portion sticks up in the way. The pro means the carrier does not stick out from either side of my car. I will just have to lower the ramp to open or close the lift gate.Maiden voyage was today. Time will tell if it was worth it. So far yes, if it means not taking apart the scooter and lifting in to car every time.

So helpful!
Everyone stops is to ask what this is. My husband uses it for work. He hauls a heavy machine around town and rather than put it directly in to our vehicle, he can now easily haul it around outside of the vehicle. The ramp makes it easier to move around versus having to lift his machine out from the trunk. I’ve driven with it on, it doesn’t add much difference, just be aware when backing up because you are longer. Such a great purchase!

Solid Transporter
The Maxxhaul was purchased primarily to transport an battery powered wheelchair. Admittedly it took me a little bit to put it all together but with it on my truck it's sturdier than I expected. I got it at a really good price. I would give it a recommendation for anyone in the market for one
