This is a review of the variety pack of caffeinated gum cubes from First Energy Gum. The variety pack includes 3 pouches of Sweet Mint flavor and 3 pouches of Fresh Mint. Each pouch includes 10 cubes of gum, with each cube containing 40 mg of caffeine, 2 carbs, and are sweetened with a combination of sorbitol, marital, and xylitol. These are decent tasting, but do have an initial bitterness when first popped in the mouth that I'm not fond of. Once you start chewing it, the bitterness dissipates and all you taste is the minty flavor. I'm not sure that I can taste the difference between the 2 mint flavors, but I appreciate that the mint helps hide the bitterness of gum.Overall, I like the option of getting my caffeine from gum rather than a liquid. This gum provides me a non-beverage alternative for caffeine when I don't want to drink a beverage or just don't have the time. With the current 20% discount and a price just below $16 for the 6 pouches, this gum is a steal at $2.67/pouch. It's a decent flavor once you get past the bitter start, and it helps keep me focused throughout the day without having to drink a ton of beverages. I really like it!

I chose the Fresh Mint flavor of the FIRST ENERGY GUM. It has a strong mint flavor as expected. I started by chewing 2 pieces since this is how I would start chewing any gum. This made the amount of gum in my mouth feel familiar and easy to evaluate.I started chewing at 7:45 in the morning, I continued with several morning tasks and found the very slight sweet coating was gone within the first 1-2 minutes. Then the gum became a familiar and easy to chew texture and flavor for the next 3-5 minutes. After this period of time, it was still very easy to chew but the texture had changed. I am glad this is gum for adults ( caffeine gum ) because the gum I was chewing became slippery and would have been easy for me to accidentally swallow. Now, paying more attention to the gum, I continued chewing until I hit the 15 minute mark. At this point it was still minty, easy to chew, but the texture was different enough that I was ready to let it go. The texture did not become sticky, just different compared to the other gum I typically chew. I think with repeated use, this texture will become more familiar and I will be able to continue to chew it for a longer period of time.I was unsure how long it took to release all the caffeine from the gum. This information was not provided on the package, the listing at the time of this review or using Ask Rufus on the listing. Researching online - to get a general idea of the time needed, I found that caffeine is typically released from chewing gum quickly, suggesting that around 80% of the caffeine is released within 5 minutes of chewing, and about 90% within 10 minutes. By chewing 15 minutes, I feel like I was able to release the majority of the caffeine from the gum.I felt like the gum affected me in a similar way to an energy drink, to compare. The gum is easy to carry, tastes good initially and continues to be pleasant during the first 10-15 minutes of chewing. The effects seem to be as expected from caffeine. I like the product and think it is a good option when compared to drinking coffee or an energy drink. The price at the time of this review is $15.99 for 6 packages of about 10 pieces each ( the one bag I have opened had 11 pieces so I think it is by weight ). Based on my personal test using 2 pieces, the price is about 54 cents per use. I think this is a good value when compared to an energy drink or coffee.My only negative, which might be a positive to other buyers, is that this contains 4 or 5 artificial sweeteners in the gum base: Sorbitol, Isomait, Maititol, Maltitol syrup, and Xylitol, and 3 artificial sweeteners in the flavoring: Mannitol, Sucralose, Acesulfame K. It does not contain cane sugar or corn syrup. This information is noted on the back of each packet.This gum is easy to carry so I will have it on hand when needed. It tasted good, in my opinion. Based on this and the details above, my rating is 5 Stars.

The caffeine gum is actually pretty good. The fresh mint flavor is strong and refreshing, and the texture is soft and chewy. Even after chewing for a bit, the gum stays soft, I was even able to blow a bubble with it, which surprised me. The flavor does mellow out a lot over time, though. If I’m only chewing one piece, it gets so soft that I could easily forget it's there and accidentally swallow it.The flavor lasts longer than I expected. I’ve chewed it for up to 15 minutes and could still taste some mint, which is nice.As for the caffeine effect, I honestly don’t feel much. I don’t notice a real energy boost or that typical “kick” you get from a cup of coffee. At the very least, it doesn’t make me feel any less tired, so I’m not sure the caffeine is doing much for me.Price-wise, two pieces equal about one cup of coffee, so a pack is roughly the equivalent of five cups. That said, for only 10 pieces per pack, it feels a bit pricey. It’s definitely more convenient than making coffee, but the cost adds up quickly.Overall, the gum tastes great and is super convenient, but I can’t say I’d rely on it for an actual energy boost.

Trying the 'Sweet Mint' flavor, you get a burst of strong, sweet mint right at the start which is quite pleasant and refreshing. The gum itself begins with a soft, typical chewing gum texture. As you continue chewing, you might detect a slight underlying bitterness, which is common with most caffeinated gums, but the strong mint flavor does a pretty good job masking most of it. The minty taste lasts for a reasonable amount of time before fading. The most noticeable thing is how quickly you feel the caffeine – it definitely seems to kick in faster than waiting for a coffee or energy drink to digest. I felt more alert and focused within maybe 5 or 10 minutes of starting to chew. It provides a fairly clean boost without intense jitters [assuming moderate caffeine content per piece]. Being sugar-free is also great. It's a really effective and convenient way to get a quick dose of caffeine for alertness when you need it quickly.
