Wonderful shredder that makes perfectly sliced coleslaw.The only problem is that since it is made of unvarnished wood, it stains very easily. I used a red cabbage and the board was deeply stained after the first use - does not come off either.Not a problem as the heavy wood does look and feel nicer to use than plastic.

Well made quality product. I bought it to slice cabbage for Sauerkraut but could be used to slice other vegetables. i found it difficult to push a quartered large red cabbage over the three blades although the blades are very sharp (I knicked the end of my thumb). I might modify it with a wooden frame to hold the vegetables, this would make it safer to use. The handle makes it easy to hold over a container to catch the shreddings. Cleaning isn't a problem I rinse it with hot water and use a small brush. I'll try buying smaller cabbages, this should make it easier to push them over the blades

The mandolin is sold specially for shredding cabbage but can be used for any vegetable. I like the feel of the wood and the size is great. Larger than an ordinary mandoline but very simple. You get what you see. It has three blades which can be taken out with a screw driver and sharpened when needed. Very similar to the ones my grandmother used and lasted a lifetime.

It is a good piece of kitchen tool but you need a lot of strenth to push cabbage through 3 blades. I have finally removed two of the blades to make shredding comfortable and to have more control (I like my fingers). The construction is very good and the size is perfect. It would be nice to see these with a one blade option. I would buy! 3 starts because of dificulties in slicing a cabbage.
