Perfect gift for friend or self!
Purchased log as a gift for my adult son who is into gardening. It's an intro into growing mushrooms on a very easy and basic level. Perfect first step into the world of growing your own mushrooms. Complete, fully inoculated log with instructions on how to grow your own fruit. Very easy to produce fruit in most home settings. The log was shipped quickly, arriving a day or two before projected arrival date. Boxed neatly, sized and wrapped so it wouldn't get damaged during shipping. The log was about a half in longer than the 12" listed-the reality is it's a log cut with a chain saw so I think minor size variations are expected. The holes were fully sealed so none of the inoculation plugs could fall out. The log was sealed in plastic to keep any water/humidity out. It has a nice label and tied with a cord to give a natural feel.My son is very excited to start this project. The portability of it gives him a chance to see where it would work best in his garden environment. I will update, hopefully with pics, once this gift produces fruit.

No mushrooms- even Pacific NW, 3 years & a replacement
After nearly 2 years, nothing from log #1. In the Pacific NW, where fungi grow really well thanks to the climate. To their credit, a replacement arrived after bringing this up.But a year further on - still neither logs produced anything. And now no more response from support.I can't recommend this.

Works!
If you’re looking for immediately mushroom growth you’re buying the wrong kit. The logs need patience and care. My logs took around a year to fruit outdoors. Now they give me mushrooms every few months. Patience is key. Also make sure your environment is suitable for mushroom cultivation before buying. Weather plays a big role too.

2.5+ years later
I pretty much give up hope on this, but I left it sitting waiting patiently for it to fruit. I bought this in February 2021. It is now September of 2023 and growing some mushrooms.

Best Tasting Log on the Market
It's a fire mushroom log, potentially one of the best logs I've ever seen period. Tastes a lot like wood, but I found that taking a cheese grater straight to the bark for your salads gives it a really nice earthy texture. I thought it would be shaped more like a mushroom but overall it definitely tastes better than the logs I usually eat. 10/10/.

GROWING SLOWLY
This was a Christmas because I love mushrooms and my daughter doesn't. She thought I could grow some instead of getting package from grocery store when some go bad.. I may be doing something wrong but now ( February) it looks like white moss like on side of log but no mushrooms yet. I have it sitting on rack above a pan which I keep water in. I am hopeful the mushrooms will grow. The directions said it may take time, so I will wait.

Get your disappointment right here!
This log produced nothing but disappointment and sadness. Lovingly taken care of, followed instructions to a “T”, we all watched it in anticipation cheering it on to produce some fungus. We talked to it, rotated it, gave it encouragement and love. It was as dead inside as our souls when we realized it would not produce the fungus we longed for. Last night, after a 393 day battle, we placed it upon the funeral pyre and said goodbye. So long infertile mushroom log. So long to my hopes, dreams, and $30.
