Q: Will this one shutdown if you apply too much pressure?

Yes and no. It will pause until the pressure is right. But, if you do that too long (too much pressure) it will shut down.

I would not replace with this unacceptable piece of junk.

Yes the lights for the modes are white and they show up when the lights are on in bathroom. The light for the charge-mode is red and shows up too! Great toothbrush comes w/replacement head

Q: will the charger plug into 110 volt wall outlet

You will need a USB plug into the wall and the wire will plug into this. You can order separately or use a computer, phone charger outlet.
