Okay
I wish I would have done this myself with a plastic ring. The metal ring rusted. It's a great starter to realize that you should do this yourself.

Beware
I was really really looking forward to leaving a good review for this product. I have been looking for a cheap sprouting kit with a mason jar on Amazon, and this is pretty economical. And unlike other kits – it comes with several ounces of sprouting seeds: alfalfa & broccoli! It is basically a glass mason jar with a lid that has a metal screen on it. But once I got it, I realized how poor the design is. One, the screen comes right off the top. It does not even fit properly if you squish it down and try to glue it; it will still pop up and leave a gap. There will always be a corner that lifts up a little bit, which could spill the tiny seeds. I did manage to Jerry rig it so that it was pushed down with plastic canvas that was wedged over it. Then I saw the next problem – the holes in the screen are too small to allow for proper drainage. They have to be small to keep in the tiny seeds, but the main problem is that they get clogged because the wire is metal that rusts! That was pretty disgusting to begin with. But I was still trying out sprouting in it for a few days, and it appeared to be working so long as I shook the water out hard each time. Then, I would leave it upside down to drain on my dish rack. However, because it was getting clogged and rusted, there was improper drainage and the sprouts were starting to rot on the bottom. Before I could fully enjoy them (about four days in), the sprouts started getting soft and smelling foul. I had to throw out the stinking mess. On the other hand, I bought these plastic lids with screens that fit mason jars... they worked perfectly (and the smallest gauge one even works with tiny broccoli seeds). No decomposition there. Also, no rusting, clogging, or lifted-up screens. So, I cannot recommend this kit. They do make a decent effort, coming with really nice instructions and foil-bag-sealed seeds. But in the end, it just did not deliver. I will probably throw out the screen and replace with plastic canvas so I can use it with larger seeds.

No lids in kit and screens don’t fit
The plastic screens were poorly hand cut either most of the black marker circle was visible in the irregular scissor cut. These need to be redone to fit in the lids, which are not included in the kit.

Picture makes it appear larger than it is. Small jar, rough cut screens. Needed a start set?
was looking for a stater kit, picture make it look bigger than it really is. To small a jar to make sprouts. Photocopy of info.
