Generation WhistlesBrass C Tin Whistle

I chose to stick with the same brand as my D Whistle. The item seems to be of good quality.I'm happy with the purchase.

I purchased this whistle to help with my breathing, having been a flute player many years ago and also to help with coordination of my left hand, affected by MS.Well I am pleased with the sound, wish I could do it justice. It is a lovely mellow whistle, easy to play, ideal for someone just starting out.

Generation whistles seem to get very mixed reviews here on Amazon. I own the whole set of Generation brass whistles and find them all to be very good indeed. Perhaps more people complain than say good things about these whistles, there must be hundreds of people with great whistles who have never left a review. My advice is try one and see for yourself. My C whistle has a lovely tone in top and bottom octaves and as far as I can tell is in tune. If you already play tin whistle then you will be familiar with Generation whistles, if you are thinking of taking it up you could do a lot worse than try a Generation, however first get yourself one in the key of D. The C whistle will be your second.

This is a lovely little whistle. I bought it for a 9 year old girl. She found it easy to play, once she realised she didn't need to blow too hard. Before long she'd managed to work out how to play , 'Mary had a little lamb', which gave her a great sense of achievement. She loves her whistle and often picks it up to play.

It's a cheap C whistle so you can't expect much, but I was still disappointed. The pitch on mine is marginally sharp at the low end but over a quarter-tone sharp from A upwards, which makes it painful to play with others, and it's not adjustable. Some notes are much more out of tune than others. The tone is breathy and scratchy especially in the top octave, making it harder to play and less satisfying. I quickly replaced this whistle with an adjustable Tony Dixon C whistle at six times the cost, but far better value.

These penny whistles bring back many fond childhood memories of running about playing, like we could actually play them. Never learned. Just like they always were and here they R again. Thank you ever so much. Martin

The quality of the whistle is great, t is light weight but robust, gives a really nice sound too. For the price it is perfect
