POWDER COATING IS QUESTIONABLE/QUALITY CONTROL
This East Top harmonica brand is a "hit -and-miss" proposition. My first purchase was a blue finish with an anodized coating. It sounds great and no problems. The black colored version on my second purchase however, had issues. Straight from the box to my lips, the black paint/coating was coming off onto my skin. They seem to have quality control issues in the powder-coating department, as the more I attempted to wipe the excess black color off, the more dull gray my harmonica became! I got black paint/powder on my fingers, clothes, etc. Additionally, the #7 draw hole had no sound at all! I think I'll go back to the more established brand names for the other keys of harmonicas that I want. UPDATE: 12-2-24 Was contacted by the seller of this item. They offered to replace or refund on it. I hence upgraded this item to four stars from two for the contact. Additionally, these are nice sounding when no defect is found. Thank you for the customer service!

Good Quality at a reasonable price
I was looking for another instrument to learn that would not destroy my budget. This is the one. It has a good build quality and has a tonality that rivals higher valued instruments. It is a good starter or intermediate instrument. I would recommend it.

Good Sounding Harmonica
This is a good sounding harmonica. It plays nicely and has a nice thick tone and good reverb. I probably like the sound of it the best of all my harmonicas. It seems very sturdy. Haven't had any problem with the reeds. Comes with a nice semi-hard cloth case. I think it's really good for the price, but I don't have any expensive ones to compare it to and I'm not a professional player. I can recommend it to amateurs like myself.

Your first chromatic harp
Over the years I’ve spent enough money on chromatic harmonicas to make a down payment on small Toyota. If you’ve ever wanted to try a chrom, this is the one to get. You can’t beat this Swan 1040 for the price, and my first impression is that it is comparable to much more expensive Hohner and Suzuki 12 holes in construction quality and tone.I just bought a second one. That said, I don’t think a chromatic is the best choice for ones firs6t harmonica. Compared to a diatonic, this or any other chrom is harder to get a clear one note sound out of. I would start off with a Lee Oskar or any model of Hohner in the key of C. These two brands have exactly the same hole spacing so you can switch between brands and keys and (Oskar) tunings and the muscle memory in your mouth handles the change.
